Porsche 911 GT3 Cup

The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is the first racing car created on the current Series 992. For the latest car tests, in endurance races and several national Cup championships, Porsche’s racing department has chosen to take part in this season’s Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS) race.

The test car driven by German drivers Marco Holzer and Uwe Alzen finished in 18th place in the overall standings, which is not so important. Much more important to Porsche is that their, still camouflaged, 992 GT3 Cup has passed the final endurance test in the environment for which it was made.

“As expected, the 911 GT3 Cup performed exceptionally well at its race debut on the particularly demanding Nürburgring-Nordschleife. During its development, we made sure right from the start that it could also be fielded in endurance competitions as well as the one-make cup sprint races. Today’s test run in the NLS underlined that our team has done a great job,” said Project Manager Jan Feldmann.

The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is powered by a 4.0-liter water-cooled 6-cylinder boxer engine with 510 hp (375 kW) and 347 lb-ft (470 Nm) of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed sequential dog-type gearbox that delivers power to the rear wheels.

It rides on 18-inch wheels with Michelin 30 / 65-18 (front) and 31 / 71-18 (back) tires. It rides on 18-inch wheels with Michelin 30 / 65-18 (front) and 31 / 71-18 (back) tires. For safe braking and stopping there are ventilated 380 mm steel brake discs with six-piston aluminum monobloc racing brake calipers.

Porsche will offer 460 units for this and next season, which will be offered at a starting price of $263,000 (€ 225,000).

Genesis GV70 reminder system

Passenger safety should be a priority for every car manufacturer. According to the data, 20 children died as a result of heat stroke in a car in the United States this year, and a record 53 in 2018 and 2019. It is clear why the public is asking, and manufacturers are increasingly installing a rear-seat reminder system. The Genesis GV70 has made a breakthrough by expanding the function of the reminder system.

In addition to the classic driver reminder to check the rear seat, the Genesis GV70 also has a radar sensor that monitors the space in the rear seat. If it notices any movement while the car is parked, an alarm will sound and the lights and turn signals will flash. The sensor is so sensitive that it can detect the movement of the child’s chest due to breathing, for example while sleeping in a seat.

To reduce the possibility of such cases to a minimum, Genesis has equipped the GV70 with a dual alarm. Each time the engine is switched off, the system informs the driver of the need to inspect the rear seat. If the system detects any movement inside the vehicle, the alarm will be activated.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says most deaths of children in a car, caused by heat stroke, occur through carelessness. The most common case is when adults forget a child in the car.

There are many reasons that cause this behavior in adults. This most often happens on days when parents, for some reason, change their routine and are unaware of the new obligation. Also, lack of sleep in parents can easily cause forgetfulness and confusion.

Opel Astra Sport Tourer

The station wagon is very popular in Europe, so many compact and medium-sized models have it on offer, including the Škoda Fabia Combi in the B segment. The Opel Astra has been available as a station wagon since 1992, and now comes the L generation, the Astra Sport Tourer.

The Astra was introduced in the form of a compact hatchback this summer, and a new render published in Kolesa magazine hints at the look of the caravan. The Astra also looks elegant in the station wagon version, and the design is a bit “cleaner” than the mechanically related Peugeot 308 SW.

Sales of the Astra hatchback in Europe begin in October. It will be produced in Germany, and we probably won’t have to wait long for a caravan. Since there will be no more powerful versions of the Peugeot 308, it is likely that we will not see either the Astra GSi or the OPC model.

When it comes to caravans, luggage space is very important. The Peugeot 308 hatchback has a trunk volume of 412 liters, and the station wagon 608 liters. The Astra hatchback is slightly more generous with 422 liters of luggage space, so the Sport Tourer is expected to offer more than 308 SW. Still, the segment leader is the Dacia Jogger with a boot volume of 708 liters without folding down the rear seats.
