Since the e-Power system was first introduced on the Note model in 2017, the Japanese company Nissan has so far produced 1.5 million vehicles with this hybrid system, which is one of a series of transitional solutions towards full electrification.

The E-Power system is a combination of a gasoline turbo engine feeding an electric motor, which is powered by a lithium-ion battery. A gasoline engine with a variable compression ratio can generate electricity directly into the battery, can use an inverter to drive an electric motor that only drives the drive wheels, and can do both if necessary.

At the beginning, Nissan used this system only on the Japanese market, and after four years (2021) it began to expand to the markets of China and Europe (2022) with the new generation of X-Trail and Qashqai. Now the plan is to expand to the North American market in the next two years.

If we look at the total number of 1.5 million Nissan cars with e-Power technology, most of them were produced in Japan (1.17 million units), in Europe 140,000 units were produced, in China 60,000 units while the remaining 150,000 cars with this hybrid technology was produced in other markets.
