2025 Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing Precision

Cadillac introduced a refreshed edition of the CT5-V, the only American sedan with a V8 engine, manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. Production will begin next year and the car will come with a special Precision package that optimizes the CT5-V Blackwing for use on closed tracks.

The CT5-V Blackwing is powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine (LT4) with 668 hp (498 kW) and 659 lb-ft (893 Nm) of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission. which sends power to the rear wheels. With the manual transmission, the CT5-V reaches 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 320 km/h (199 mph).

Now owners of the refreshed CT5-V can test its capabilities and power on circuit tracks thanks to a special Precision package that offers a multi-adjustable suspension with adaptive dampers (MagneRide), stiffer springs and stiffer anti-roll bars, a recalibrated electronic limited-slip differential and a more precise steering system, carbon-ceramic brakes, and lightweight 19-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires.

“After everything we’ve done, thinking about achieving record lap times at various tracks around the world, we’re confident that the refreshed CT5-V combined with the Precision package will live up to the expectations of even the biggest enthusiasts both on the road and on the track,” said Executive Chief Engineer Brandon Vivian.

1996 Porsche 911 Speedster by Gunther Werks is up for auction

The American company Gunther Wereks, specialized in Porsche cars, produced some of the best and rarest cars based on the Porsche 993. This 1996 Porsche 911 Speedster was produced in only 25 examples, and one of them is for sale.

This 911 Speedster is one of the most comprehensively enhanced Porsche 911s ever built. It is finished in Aston Martin Skyfall Silver and is in excellent condition. It is equipped with DGR computer-controlled active coilover suspension, custom suspension arms with revised geometry, uprated anti-roll bars, lightweight uprights, a front strut brace, a cutting-edge hydraulic front lift system, a windshield and carbon fiber hood with aluminum reinforcements. , Salsa Red GT brake calipers, nickel-finished Billet mirrors, matte Metallic Silver and satin Carmine Red striping, and, chiefly, its optional carbon magnesium Fuchs-style wheels with a Graphite finish. The chassis is reinforced with a new cage and hoop that are seamlessly integrated as a support for the tonneau cover, which has contributed to increased passenger safety.

In the cabin, a blend of exposed carbon fiber, sumptuous Mercedes-Benz Classic Red Nappa leather, and contrasting Dunkegrau Alcantara coating every conceivable surface right down to the cupholders. The odometer shows only 93 miles (∼150 km).

The Gunther Werks 911 Speedster is powered by a 4.0-L 6-cylinder engine with 430 hp (321 kW) and 330 lb-ft (447 Nm) of torque. That’s enough power to push the car from 0 to 100 km/h in less than four seconds.

The car comes with a specification sheet, car cover, books, and tools. The auction will take place August 15 – 17, 2024 in Monterey, and the estimated value of the car is $975,000 – $1,100,000 USD.

The hood latch issue caused the recall of almost 1.9 million Tesla vehicles

Over the past few years, Tesla has recalled several million of its vehicles due to various safety issues. In June there was a safety problem with the seat belt warning system. Now, they are recalling nearly 2 million vehicles due to a software issue that fails to warn drivers of an open hood.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) warned Tesla that an inadequately secured hood could open while driving, blocking the driver’s view. Therefore, the Tesla company offered an over-the-air software update, which should solve the problem.

The problem with unintended hood opening was reported in China in March, after which the company launched an investigation and found latch switch deformation as the cause of the warning not being activated. The hood latch assemblies were manufactured by the Chinese company Magna Closures Kunshan Co. Ltd., and the engineers started inspecting Tesla vehicles in Europe and North America. The investigation is still ongoing, but the company has decided to recall 1.8 million vehicles for the safety of drivers.

This issue affected Model 3, Model S, and Model X cars built between 2021 and 2024, and Model Y cars built between 2020 and 2024.
