Audi introduces a new naming scheme

Audi has been confusing the public for seven years with its naming scheme, i.e. the numbers on its TFSI, TDI and Quattro models, and now the manufacturer from Ingolstadt, Germany, has decided to change it.

Audi has decided to simplify its offering, starting with the new electric crossover, the Audi Q6 E-Tron. The standard version of this model will be known as the Q6 E-Tron Quattro, and will have four-wheel drive, while the more powerful version is called the SQ6 E-Tron. However, Audi could offer a version with a different battery size, which will be called “Performance”.

The head of Audi’s sales and marketing department for electric vehicles, Florian Hauser, confirmed in an interview with Auto Express that it is no longer necessary to use the numbers, and that the decision to remove them will also apply to diesel and gasoline models. The two-digit designation will be incorporated from the lids and tailgate of models with internal combustion engines, but it is not yet known whether the previous nomenclature will be completely discarded by dropping it from configurators, marketing materials and the like.

Also, former Audi director Markus Duesmann confirmed last year that some models will get new names. From the next generation Audi A4 will become A5 and A6 will become A7. It remains to be seen whether a sedan will arrive as a successor to the outgoing A4 after photos of the Sportback were released.

It is obvious that Audi has decided to separate the electric models (A4 and A6) from the ICE models (A5 and A7) with new designations. Some models will be retired in the meantime, such as the Audi A1 and the Q2 subcompact crossover. At the end of last year, the same fate befell the sports model TT, while the end of March will mean the end of the R8 model.

It should be noted that Audi is seriously considering the Q9 SUV. This could fit into the plans of the German company, which previously announced that it will introduce several new models in the next two years, and the Q9 could be one of them. “Yes, of course. If you look at our volume compared to other brands, you will see that we are not in some segments unlike them,” said Managing Director of Audi Australia Jeff Mannering.

Currently it is not known whether the Q9 will be fully electric or powered by an internal combustion engine, but if we remember that Audi plans to produce only EVs from 2026, electric motors are a closer option.

Arese RH95 Vento D’Oro Limited Edition

Arese RH95 Vento D’Oro is a new powerful car from the Italian company Touring Superleggera. It is a limited number of hand-assembled examples and the company will produce only 18 of them. This car bears the plate “05/18”.

The Touring Arese RH95 Vento D’Oro is powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine with 670 hp (500 kW) and 560 lb-ft (760 Nm) of torque, taken from the Ferrari 488 GTB. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed F1 DCT automatic transmission. It reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.0 seconds with a top speed of 330 km/h (205 mph). Previous versions of the RH95 used a more powerful V8 engine with 720 hp (537 kW). The same engine powers the Ferrari 488 Pista and F8 Tributo models. It is mounted on 20″ wheels wrapped in 245/35R20 front and 305/30R20 rear tires.

The car is 4,782 long, 1,982 wide and 1,259 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,650 mm. It is painted in White Morning Frost with gold details, while real gold is hand-applied to various body panels and covers the entire rear part.

Inside, the sports seats are trimmed in white leather with gold details, while the headrests are covered in Alcantara. White leather also covers the dash, center console and steering wheel, with matching floor and headliner.

The Touring Arese RH95 Vento D’Oro follows last year’s Grigio Artico model, with a starting price of 1.58 million euros.

BMW Series 7 (G11) with wide carbon fiber body kit

At the 2015 International Motor Show Germany BMW revealed the sixth generation of the Series 7 (G11) which was the first car lineup of BMW to be based on the CLAR platform. It was produced until 2022 and was not modified as often as other models of the Bavarian manufacturer. However, tuner AT26 Design received a request from a Latvian owner to make his car better.

Tuner started the project in 2018 with a completion time of 24 months. The result is a wide carbon fiber body kit, and inspiration was found in the car designs of the Japanese company Rocket Bunny. In order to satisfy all the wishes of the owner, the process started with sketches, followed by scanning of the bodywork and the production of a plastic model. The final product was made of carbon fiber, which was easier to work with than if some other material had been used.

Ultimately, the car’s body kit included fender flares with integrated vents, lip spoiler, front splitter, side skirts, rear spoiler and diffuser. All components are done in contrast with the gray body, and the result is a wild look.

Under the bonnet of the BMW 740d is a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder twin-turbo engine with 406 hp (303 kW), instead of the standard 320 hp (239 kW). Power is sent to all wheels via an 8-speed automatic Steptronic transmission. Also, the tuner equipped the car with a special set of Z-Performance 22-inch wheels instead of the standard 19″ wheels.

When it comes to the price of the upgrade, we can say that the owner did not pay much. The total value of the parts installed on the car was 23,000 euros, which is not too much.
