Sketches of the revised VW Golf Mk8

At CES Las Vegas, which was held at the beginning of the month, Volkswagen showed the public a camouflaged example of the redesigned VW Golf Mk8, which should soon be premiered. Now we have official sketches of how the car should look in the end.

For now, VW has not released details about the Golf, which will undergo a redesign in all versions (basic, GTI and R). What is known for now is that the standard version will retain the manual gearbox, while the GTI will only be available with a DSG gearbox. The four-wheel drive Golf R will also be equipped with an automatic transmission and will be the last version of this model with ICE. Sketches of the revised Golf Mk8 were published on his Instagram profile by the head of Volkswagen design, Andreas Mind.

Like the rest of the VW fleet, from the end of the decade, the Golf will only be available with an electric powertrain. It will be built on the SSP platform and will be produced at the VW plant in Wolfsburg.

VW ID.7 Tourer

VW has announced the arrival of its first all-electric station wagon, the ID.7 Tourer. The car will be produced at the factory in Emden (Germany), where the ID.4 and ID.7 models are already produced, and the company did not reveal the date of the premiere.

The car will be built on a modular MEB platform that brings an extremely spacious passenger cabin and a lot of space behind the backrests of the rear seats. This means a standard luggage capacity of 545 liters, or 1,700 liters when the rear seats are folded down.

The published photos show the car covered in pixel camouflage that does not reveal any significant changes compared to the sedan presented at the beginning of the year. Also, VW did not reveal the car’s specifications, so we can only talk about the performance of the ID.7 sedan, which is powered by an electric motor with 286 hp (213 kW) and has a range of 382 miles in the standard version or 435 miles in the Pro S version with a larger 86kWh battery. VW has not released photos of the interior of the ID.7 Tourer, so it is assumed that it will be identical to the interior of the sedan version.

VW to stop selling ICE vehicles in Norway

Norway is the leader in the world of electric vehicles, and according to data for September this year, 90 percent of the total number of cars sold were EVs and plug-in hybrid vehicles, most of which are fully electric. That was one of the reasons for VW to make a decision to stop selling ICE vehicles in this country from 2024.

In 1990, Norway abolished taxes on imported zero-emission vehicles. However, from 2023 it implements a purchase tax (25% VAT) based on the cars’ weight and on the purchase price from 500,000 Norwegian Kroner and over.

Moller Mobility Group is the largest dealer of VW vehicles in Norway, and it previously announced that it will sell only electric vehicles from 2024. However, it is not known if this also applies to VW commercial vehicles, although it may happen.

Speaking of car manufacturers, the best-selling electric car in Norway is still the Tesla Model Y (20,202 units), followed by the Volkswagen ID.4 (5,832 units) and the Škoda Enyaq (4,730 units). There are also ID.3 (2,788 units), ID. Buzz Cargo (2,624 units), ID. Buzz Pro (1,273 units) and ID.5 (1,228 units).
