VW T-Roc was the third best-selling car in Europe last year with over 200,000 units sold, and Volkswagen plans to launch a new generation of this model already next year. But not the VW T-Roc Cabriolet.

Volkswagen debuted the T-Roc in 2017, and a soft-top convertible version arrived three years later. The new generation will be built on the MQB Evo platform, which will allow VW to add technology such as plug-in hybrid powertrain and adaptive suspension. The same platform will be used by the upcoming redesigned Golf, as well as the new Passat and Tiguan. However, buyers are more hoping for the return of buttons and switches of secondary functions, which were also announced by VW as a novelty for new models.

The new T-Roc will be VW’s last model with internal combustion engines. There is only a small group of buyers for convertibles,” said VW head of development Kai Grunitz.

According to Dataforce, in the 11 months of last year, VW sold 11,693 convertible versions of the T-Roc, which was the second best result in Europe. Only the Mini Cabriolet was better than it.
