Following the recently unveiled GR Corolla, Toyota has prepared a special limited edition of this model that will join the special Core Grade and Circuit Edition models. The car was created in honor of Toyota President Akio Toyoda and was named GR Corolla MORIZO.
Under the hood is an upgraded 1.6-liter three-cylinder turbo petrol engine (G16E-GTS) with 300 hp (221 kW) @ 6,500 rpm and 295 lb-ft (370 Nm) of torque. Power is transmitted to all wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. It is mounted on lightweight reinforced 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.
The MORIZO Edition comes with a number of performance improvements, which promises greater potential. The car is 45 kg lighter than the Circuit Edition, and this has been achieved by removing the rear seats, the speakers in the rear doors, the rear window regulator. Many lightweight materials have been used such as so the carbon fiber roof, bonnet and front door panels are made of aluminum. There are also new brake cooling vents.
Inside, the seats are upholstered in a combination of Brin Naub suede and synthetic leather with red stitching. Suede also covers the steering wheel.
Toyota did not say how many copies will be produced or at what price. Given that the number of GR Corolla Core Grade and Circuit Editions is limited to only 200 copies for 2023, the same can be expected for MIORIZO.
