Huawei in the automotive industry

After Apple announced its entry into the world of the automotive industry, Huawei did the same with its first car, the ARCFOX Alpha. The presentation took place this year at Auto Shanghai.

It is an electric car that Huawei has developed with the BAIC group. There will be two models on offer, Alpha S and Alpha S HI.

The ARCFOX Alpha S is equipped with Huawei’s Kirin 990A processor, thanks to which the car will have 5G support, and will also use the HarmonyOS operating system. Also, the car has 13 ultrasonic radars, 6-millimeter wave radar, 12 cameras, which enables safer autonomous driving.

Inside the Huawei ARCFOX Alpha S, there is a large screen that allows passengers better control of infotainment and even autonomous driving.

The ARCFOX Alpha S will have a 93.5 kWh battery that provides a range of 435 miles (700 kilometers). So far, autonomous mode can be used in several major Chinese cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, thanks to Huawei maps.

“Anything that Tesla can do, we can do,” said Xu Zhijun, a rotating chairman of Huawei.

The price of the ARCFOX Alpha S model ranges from $ 38,700 (basic version) to $ 66,000.

Audi A6 E-Tron

Following the development of electric vehicles of other car companies, Audi is increasingly turning to the electrification of its own cars. This time Audi has unveiled its new Sportback with two electric motors, the Audi A6 E-Tron.

The A6 e-tron is based on the PPE platform developed by Audi in collaboration with Porsche. Some of the novelties are the absence of mirrors, replaced by cameras, and the lack of door handles. Also, the A6 E-Tron has LED headlights and a wide line with digital OLED elements.

Speaking of powertrain, the A6 E-Tron is powered by two electric motors that produce 470 HP (350 kW) and 590 lb-ft of torque (800 Nm). It takes less than 4 seconds to reach 62 mph. The car has an air suspension and for better weight distribution, batteries (100 kWh) are placed between the axles.

Thanks to the fast charging system, up to 80 percent of the battery can be charged in just 25 minutes and a 10-minute charge gives a range of 186 miles (300 km). With a full battery, the range of the A6 E-Tron is 435 miles (700 km).

Audi has not revealed what the interior of this model will look like.

Mercedes EQB

Mercedes has continued to develop electric cars, so it will present the compact crossover EQB at Auto Shanghai this year. This is the third EV that Mercedes will present in 2021.

Since the first presentation will be for the Chinese market, it is a fully electric car with three rows of seats for seven people (standard in China). It is 184.4 inches long, which makes it shorter than the Ford Mustang. It will be produced in Beijing.

For the European market, there is a five-seater model whose production is expected at the end of the year and will be produced in Hungary. On the American market, the arrival of the Mercedes EQB is expected in 2022.

There will be options with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and it will have a battery with a minimum capacity of 66.5 kWh (in Europe) up to a maximum of 200 kWh. The European EQB 350 4MATIC model will have a range of 297 miles (NEDC) and 260 miles (WLTP).

The exterior design is adorned with a front black grille with the Mercedes logo and a continuous light strip.

For now, there is no information on the prices and specifics of the powertrain or when sales of these models will begin.
