German carmaker Porsche will invest over 100 million euros in sustainable mobility. By purchasing shares of 1KOMMA5 °, through Porsche Ventures, Porsche is entering the field of smart city technology to close the system from sustainable generation and energy storage to intelligent networking and carbon-neutral use.
“The topic of smart cities is an exciting field of activity for Porsche. We are primarily concerned here with the networked, efficient and sustainable city. At Porsche, we are asking ourselves a question: how can we further enhance the quality of life in urban areas? And not only on four wheels, but also with more extensive premium offers. In this respect, 1KOMMA5 ° fits perfectly into our investment strategy, ”says Lutz Meschke, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board and Member of the Executive Board for Finance and IT at Porsche AG.
Porsche Ventures is a start-up company whose intention is to reduce the share of carbon in private households by expanding the energy market and air conditioning technology. By networking the system, the devices installed would be available for the energy services of the future.
In 2022, 1KOMMA5 ° will open stores in German cities to present the ideas of carbon neutrality to a wider audience. The first stores will be opened in Binnenalster, Hamburg and Lingen an der Ems.
