Prototype X based on the Land Rover Defender 90

Land Rover Defender 90 is a car that many tuners try to make better with additional equipment, raising its performance to a higher level. One of these is the British Kahn Design, owned by Afzal Kahn, which presented the Prototype X based on this model.

The car received new LED lights above the windshield, a newly designed front bumper/spoiler, and a larger spoiler above the rear door that houses the fifth wheel. It is finished in black, and the carbon body components, among which the extended fenders stand out the most, give the car a more powerful and aggressive look. Optional is a large glass roof, fog lamps, heated seats, an interactive digital display, a 360-degree camera, and satellite navigation.

Prototype X is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six (Ingenium) with 393 hp (293 kW) and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to all wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. It reaches 62 mph (100 km/h) in six seconds with a top speed of 129 mph (208 km/h). It is mounted on black 22″ high-performance alloy wheels.

The car will be available through Chelsea Truck. “Chelsea Truck Company is known for the innovative styling we bring to Defenders past and present. With this vehicle, we are showing our more experimental side by including some of our newest works in progress. As a true 1-of-1 prototype, it will be of interest to collectors and enthusiasts and, at £105,000, represents superb value,” said CEO Afzal Kahn.

Toyota has produced more than 300 million cars

In 1935, the Toyota G1 pickup was produced. It was the first car of the Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer, and since then, as one of the largest car manufacturers ever, Toyota has produced more than 300 million cars.

In its 88-year long history, Toyota has produced most of its cars in Japan (180 million), but production in other countries (120 million) shows how popular the manufacturer is worldwide. Its first plant outside of Japan was built in 1962 in São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil. Over the next eight years, Toyota established its global presence, delivering its millionth vehicle.

In 1966, Toyota introduced a car that in just eight years, until 1974, became their best-selling car worldwide, and one of the best-selling cars in the world ever, the Toyota Corolla. In total production, Corolla makes 53.39% of total cars produced.

Toyota’s position in the global market is extremely strong and it is unlikely that anyone will take the throne of the largest car manufacturer in the near future. The demand for their cars is increasing, and last year the Japanese company was the largest car manufacturer in the world for the third year in a row with 10.5 cars produced. That position could be further strengthened by the concepts presented recently at the Japan Mobility Show, which are an electric pickup, SUV and sports car.
