1962 Porsche 356B 1600S is up for auction

The Stuttgart-based company’s first production cars, the Porsche 356, are rare, especially when it comes to well-preserved examples. Regardless of the version and year of production, they attract the attention of observers and especially collectors. It was produced in four versions, and in 1960 Porsche introduced the 356 B with the T5 body type, but two years later it was replaced by the T6 body type. It was produced until 1963 and one well-preserved example, the 1962 Porsche 356B 1600S is up for auction.

The Porsche 356B 1600S is powered by a 1.6-liter Type 616/12 flat-four with factory 75 hp (55 kW) and 87 lb-ft (118 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a replacement Type 741 four-speed manual gearbox. It sits on vented gray 15″ steel wheels wrapped in 165-series Michelin XZX tires.

Originally finished in Oslo Blue, the car was repainted in the current black in 2000. At the same time, the interior was reupholstered in dark brown leather that covers the seats, dashboard and door panels. In front of the driver are a wood-rimmed steering wheel and a five-digit odometer showing 71,345 miles (total mileage is unknown). Additional equipment includes aftermarket headrests, door pockets with locking clasps, chrome-plated interior fittings, and a height-adjustable rearview mirror. It has been properly maintained and is in good condition.

This 356B comes with service records, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean Iowa title.

The auction ends on October 7 and the current highest bid is $211,000 USD.

2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is up for auction

At the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show Mercedes-AMG presented the first Mercedes-Benz automobile designed and built from scratch entirely by AMG, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG. It was produced until 2014 when it was replaced by the SLS AMG GT Final Edition. This 2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is up for auction.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is powered by the world’s most powerful naturally aspirated production series engine ever produced 6.2-liter M159 DOHC V8 with a factory output of 563 hp (420 kW) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. It is mounted on black-finished seven-spoke 19″ and 20″ wheels wrapped in Continental ContiProContact tires.

The car is in excellent condition, well maintained and finished in Obsidian Black Metallic with matte clear paint protection film. It is equipped with gullwing doors with pop-out handles, carbon-fiber trim, bi-xenon headlamps, a speed-activated aerofoil, straked front fender vents, power-folding mirrors, Parktronic parking sensors, quadruple exhaust outlets, Akrapovič exhaust system, and gold -finished AMG-branded brake calipers over carbon-ceramic rotors at all four corners.

Inside, heated power-adjustable AMG sport seats are trimmed in Designo Classic Red leather, which also covers the door panels, dashboard and center console. In front of the driver is a leather and Alcantara trimmed steering wheel behind which is a digital odometer showing 13,407 miles. Additional equipment includes a rearview camera, Keyless Go, optional extended carbon-fiber interior trim, dual-zone automatic climate control, and COMAND infotainment with navigation.

The car has a clean Carfax report that shows no accidents or other damage. It comes with a clean Florida title.

The auction ends on October 6 and the current highest bid is $155,000 USD.

Fiat stops production of all-electric 500e

Last week VW announced that it will lay off 269 workers from the Zwickau factory, and three days ago it will stop the production of ID.3 and Cupra Born in Zwickau. Serious things seem to be happening in the European market as Fiat also announces the temporary halt of production of the all-electric 500e at the Mirafiori plant due to low demand, as well as the cessation of production of four Maserati models (Ghibli, Quattroporte, Levante and GranTurismo).

This year is bad for the Fiat 500e, when it comes to sales, because there was a drop in demand (1.7 percent) compared to the same period last year, so the decision was expected. It should be noted that the model with an internal combustion engine will continue to be produced in Poland.

A spokesperson for Stellantis said that all activities at the Mirafiori plant will be temporarily halted this week and that the plant will continue to operate, but will again have to stop car production between October 19 and November 3. About 2,400 workers are employed in this factory.

The Fiat 500e is powered by an electric motor with 118 hp (87 kW) and 162 lb-ft (220 Nm) of torque. It is equipped with a lithium-ion 42 kWh battery that provides a range of 199 miles (321 km/ WLTP). It reaches 62 mph (100 km/h) in 9 seconds with a top speed of 150 km/h (93 mph).
