Volkswagen Passat B9 spy photos

Volkswagen has announced the ninth generation Passat B9 for 2023, and now spy photos of this car have appeared. It all started back in 1973 when Giorgetto Giugiaro designed the first Volkswagen Passat model. Since then, eight generations have been produced and marketed as Dasher, Santana, Quantum, Magotan, Corsar and Carat.

In spy photos, it can be noticed that the new generation Passat B9, in its appearance, is similar to the Alltrack model. It will be built on the MQB platform and will only be offered as a caravan.

When it comes to powertrain, the ninth generation will be offered in petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid versions. The plug-in hybrid will be powered by a combination of a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo gasoline engine with 150 hp (110 kW) and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) and a 2.0-liter turbo gasoline engine with 187 hp (140 kW) and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) of torque. There will also be diesel engines with a range of 122 to 250 hp (90 – 184 kW).

Earlier, Volkswagen announced that it would no longer produce its popular Passat sedan, which it stopped offering on its website.

Alfa Romeo Tonale Quadrifoglio as EV

Following the recently unveiled Alfa Romeo Tonale, the Italian carmaker is currently developing the Tonale Quadrifoglio. This information was confirmed by Alfa Romeo CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato.

Although there is no information on car design, that didn’t stop X-Tomi Design from guessing what it might look like. According to their estimate, the car will have a redesigned front bumper, lower suspension, wider fenders, additional vents, widened sills, carbon roof, a larger rear spoiler, a new set of rims and larger brakes.

Alfa Romeo’s global product manager Daniel Tiago Guzzafame also said that there is a possibility of producing an electric version of Tonale, but before deciding on production, it is necessary to check whether there is a demand for this type of vehicle. This is to be expected as Alfa Romeo’s plan is to become a fully electric brand by 2027.

Tonale Quadrifoglio would become a rival to the Mercedes-AMG GLA 45 4Matic and the Audi RS Q3 Sportback. Currently the most powerful Tonale is a plug-in hybrid with 272 hp (200 kW), so the Quadrifoglio can be expected to offer between 350 and 400 hp. The fully electric Tonale Quadrifoglio is not excluded either.

Rolls-Royce Spectre EV rendering

A few months ago Rolls-Royce decided to stop the rumors and announce to the world that it is in the process of producing its first electric coupe, the Spectre EV. It was a historic step forward for the company that announced the electric novelty earlier through the 102EX and 103EX concepts.

Specter is expected in the second half of this year, and Rolls-Royce is rapidly working on a replacement for the Wraith model without carbon emissions. The model has been spotted several times during testing when it was protected by camouflage, with the exception of just a few parts of the car.

Based on spy photos, the Russian magazine Kolesa made renderings that hint at the appearance of the Specter model, reminiscent of the modern version of the Wraith. However, Rolls-Royce does not think so. “It’s not in any way the successor of the Wraith. It’s a different proposition for our clients. It will feel very different, it will look very different. We will go from combustion engines straight into electric when we substitute certain positions in our portfolio,” and that is the way forward, “said Rolls-Royce CEO, Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes.

When it comes to powertrain, rumors say it will use electric motors from the upcoming BMW iX M60. It is powered by a two electric motors with a total power of 619 hp (455 kW) and 811 lb-ft (1,100 Nm) in Sport Mode with activated Launch Control and an M specific suspension set-up. It will reach 62 mph in 3.8 seconds with a maximum electronically limited speed of 155 mph (250 km / h).
