2010 Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale is for sale

Celebrating the company’s 100th birthday, in 2010 Alfa Romeo produced nine examples of the special edition TZ3 Stradale. It is a road version of the racing TZ3, and one of them is for sale.

The car was designed by Norihiko Harada of Zagato. It is powered by an 8.4-L Viper V10 engine whose power is reduced to 600 hp (450 kW) at 6,100 rpm and 560 lb-ft (760 Nm) of torque at 5,000 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed Tremec TR6060 manual transmission. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just over 3 seconds with a top speed of 200 mph.

The TZ3 is based on the Dodge Viper ACR-X chassis and adapted for road use. It is extremely light as it weighs only 850 kilograms thanks to the carbon frame and aluminum body panels.

The car is finished in Dark Blue Metallic and is in truly exceptional condition. It has been meticulously maintained and has spent most of its time in an esteemed Arizona-based collection. The odometer shows just 1,863 miles.

This TZ3 Stradale is being sold by Young Motor Cars and the asking price is $675,000.

Alfa Romeo has a new logo for its 115th birthday

It has been 115 years since Cavaliere Ugo Stella founded A.L.F.A. (Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili) and the Italian brand has decided to present a special logo for this occasion. Its design combines the history of Italian passion, style and sporting competition and will be used at special events.

With a modern design and a connection to the company’s history, the special logo is a combination of the number “115” and the Biscione (the brand’s historical sign), innovation and movement. The black and red color combination represents the brand’s identity and pays homage to previous Alfa Romeo logos.

This year Alfa Romeo is celebrating the anniversaries of some of its most significant sports successes. On 12–13 April 1930, the Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Gran Sport #84, driven by Tazio Nuvolari and Giovanni Battista Guidotti, achieved victory in the Mille Miglia. It was Nuvolari’s first victory in this race and the first to reach an average speed of 100 km/h on this demanding track. The second date is April 15, 1923, when Ugo Sivocci, driving an Alfa Romeo RL TF, won the Targa Florio. It was the first victory with the Quadrifoglio symbol on the body of the car. In 1925, the Alfa Romeo GP Tipo P2 won the first World Championship in motoring.

It is an interesting fact that almost all significant events took place in years ending with the number “5”. In 1955, the Giulietta Berlina debuted, ten years later (1965) the Giulia Sprint GTA arrived on the market. In 1975, the 33 TT 12 won the Constructors’ World Championship, and ten years later the Alfa 75 was introduced. It was the last mass-produced model on the Alfetta platform.

Happy birthday, Alfa Romeo!

Alfa Romeo will shut down the petrol versions of the Stelvio and Giulia

It has long been known that Alfa Romeo will be phasing out the current gasoline versions of the Giulia and Stelvio, and now we know when. The Italian brand has informed its dealers across Italy that production of the Giulia Quadrifoglio will end on March 31, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio on April 30, and the standard Giulia, Stelvio Sprint, Veloce and Intensa on May 31.

Alfa Romeo will not completely phase out these models, as the diesel versions are not mentioned in the document, and also because the new generation of the Giulia and Stelvio is currently under development.

The new generation of the Stelvio will be built on the STLA Large platform used by the Dodge Charger, Jeep Recon and Jeep Wagoneer S. It will be offered in hybrid and electric versions. As for the Giulia, some information says that it will be completely different from the current generation. It will probably have a sleek and aerodynamic body similar to the Peugeot 408.

Alfa Romeo has not yet released official information, but it is certain that the new generations of the Giulia and Stelvio will also be offered with electric motors.
