Audi’s V6 diesel engines will use hydrotreated vegetable oil

Like other brands from Volkswagen Group, Audi strives to become carbon neutral by 2050. Besides that, the company strives to do the Internal Combustion Engines with less CO2. On that occasion, Audi said all their V6 diesel engines, which develop up to 281 HP (210 kW) and which are manufactured after the second half of February this year, are compatible with HydroTreated Vegetable Oil (HVO).

“We optimize our existing internal combustion engines to be more economical and to create less show. One of the ways is to create a technical basis for the use of sustainable fuel,” said Head of Technical Development Oliver Hoffmann.

Audi claims that the HVO reduces CO2 emissions between 70 and 95 percent compared to the ordinary diesel. Fuel can be made of waste materials such as oil from the food industry and agricultural waste. These oils are converted into aliphatic hydrocarbons, which modifies oil properties to be usable in diesel engines.

“As the cetane rating of hvo is around 30 percent higher, the combustibility of the engines is enhanced. The Positive Noticeable When Cold Starting. We tested the effects on Various Components, The Performance, and Exhaust Emissions in Specific Validation Runs Before Granting Approval, “says Matthias Schober.

The Volkswagen Group also works on other alternative fuels such as e-fuel, currently used in racing Porsche and Lamborghini cars.

McLaren F1 with BMW engine and Audi gearbox

In honor of the five McLaren F1 GTRs that finished the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 1995, McLaren produced five examples of the powerful F1 LM model and one prototype. It is an extremely rare and expensive car that most cannot afford, but can make a replica.

McLaren never released blueprints and diagrams of the F1 LM model, but that didn’t stop a big McLaren fan, Danie Brough, from making a replica of this car. It took him 23 years to realize his dream.

Proportions taken from photos and smaller models were used in the production. The car is painted in Papaya orange, and is made of aluminum, carbon fiber and plexiglass, while the chassis is a combination of aluminum and carbon fiber.

“Everything you see on the car, I made myself. The exception is BMW’s twin-turbo V12 engine paired with Audi’s 6-speed manual transmission. The project required years of research, photo viewing and sizing,” Brough said.

The McLaren F1 replica is powered by a 6.0 liter V12 engine with 650 hp (485 kW), and weighs 1,180 kg which is 40 kg more than the original.

Every goal is achievable, if you strongly believe in it. The proof is this gentleman from South Africa, Danie Brough.

The Lamborghini Aventador will be produced one more time

The fire, which recently destroyed 3,965 cars transported by the cargo ship Felicity Ace to the United States, caused major problems for carmakers whose models were on the ship. As we announced earlier, there were 1,100 Porsches, 189 Bentleys on board, but also an unknown number of Volkswagen, Audi and Lamborghini models.

The Lamborghini Aventador will be produced one more time

It is Lamborghini that has the biggest problem, as the ship was carrying the latest examples of the Aventador, which Lamborghini recently stopped producing. According to the latest information, there are great chances that the line will start again and produce an unknown number of Aventador.

Lamborghini CEO in America, Andrea Baldi, told Automotive News that he still does not know the consequences of the fire when it comes to Lamborghini. The company hopes that at least some Aventador models have survived, and that it is possible to restore them. If this is not the case, they will have to produce new ones.

“The car is sold out, but there is a possibility that out of 563 examples, some cancellation will enable the replacement of the Aventador, but I hope that at least some Aventadors on board remained safe. We will notify our clients as soon as we receive a complete picture of the damage. We hope for the best, and we are ready to face the worst, “Baldi said.

It is estimated that owners will have to wait at least six months for their Lamborghini Aventador cars.
