BMW cancels subscription to heated seats

A year ago, BMW enabled car owners to activate the heated seats service via subscription. Weak interest was the reason for the quick failure of this project, so the Bavarian company decided to cancel this option.

This service was not the only one on offer, there were others such as a subscription to a heated steering wheel. BMW provided this service only in certain markets and in South Korea it cost 18 dollars per month. Quite expensive, considering that some models come with these options as standard.

Obviously, BMW’s expectations were high, but this service did not attract enough customers and the Bavarian manufacturer abandoned it. The information was confirmed by Pieter Nota, a member of the BMW management in the sales and marketing department. He stated that the subscription rate was too low, as users felt they were paying double for this service, since they could pay for the same when buying a car.

BMW has announced that the subscription will remain for other functions, so the focus will be on subscriptions for parking assistance, improved navigation or other advanced assistance systems.

BMW Vision Neue Klasse – The car of the future

IAA MOBILITY has started and it seems that German car manufacturers are the most active when it comes to new concepts and production cars. BMW is one of them, and the Bavarian company presented a concept with a vision of the future that pays respects to the past, BMW Vision Neue Klasse.

With this concept, BMW enters a new era of individual mobility, continuing on the path of the previously presented Vision Circular and Vision Dee concepts. “With the Neue Klasse concept, we are embarking on the largest investment in the history of the company. We are not only writing the next chapter of BMW, we are also writing a whole new book,” said Frank Weber, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG.

The car with a focus on clean vision with sharp and clean lines is equipped with a completely new front fascia, lots of glass, high design lounge interior, lovely fabrics and soft plastic. The interior is decorated with yellow lounge-style seats that we will hardly see in any other car, at least in the near future. There is also a new generation iDrive system as well as BMW Panoramic Vision which, on the lower part of the windshield, provides information such as navigation, speed and etc.

With new possibilities and solutions, the BMW Vision Neue Klasse provides a new experience, creating an insight into the new future. Also, BMW claims that this car will feature 30 percent more range, 30 percent faster charging, and 25 percent more efficiency.

BMW M3 CS Limited Edition at the Nürburgring Nordschleife

The world’s most famous race track where car companies bring their sports cars to show their real potential and compete against the competition is the Nürburgring Nordschleife. This time it hosted one of the BMW cars, the BMW M3 CS Limited Edition.

BMW M3 CS Limited Edition at the Nürburgring Nordschleife

M3 CS Limited Edition is powered by a 3.0L inline-six biturbo engine with 550 hp (405 kW) and 479 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque. That is more power compared to the standard M3 Competition, which has 510 hp (375 kW), but also 34 kg less. Power is sent to all wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. It reaches 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.4 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 302 km/h (188 mph).

The car is equipped with lightweight components such as a carbon hood, a titanium exhaust system, carbon front seat shells, and ultra-light 19 and 20-inch reinforced rims wrapped in 275/35/19 (front) and 285/30/20 (rear) Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2.

When it comes to the time achieved on the track, the BMW M3 CS Limited Edition covered the 22.8 kilometer long track in 7:28.760. That’s faster than the time achieved by the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Verde, as well as the BMW M5 CS.
