Porsche 930 TAG Turbo with F1 engine

It looks like this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed will be very exciting as several companies will present their projects, such as Lanzante Limited who presented two Porsche cars with F1 engines. One of them is the Porsche 930 TAG Turbo.

The car was announced back in 2018, and this one was named SJ87 after the Swedish F1 driver Stefan Johansson. It is powered by a 1.5-liter twin-turbo Porsche-TAG V6 engine. The same engine was used in the McLaren MP4/3 car at the race in Austria in 1987.

Johansson painted the car himself. It’s decorated with a few reminders from the past such as the green detailing that refers to Johansson’s helmet, while the blue and yellow represent the colors of the Swedish flag. The red and white colors pay homage to McLaren’s livery from the period when the team was sponsored by Marlboro.

Lanzante also revealed its new P1, the fourth completed HDK (High Downforce Kit) model. Paying homage to McLaren’s F1 livery of the 1980s and 1990s, the car is powered by a Lanzante version of the 4.0L Cosworth engine with 1,000 hp (735 kW) and 774 lb-ft (1,050 Nm) of torque.

2023 MG4 EV Xpower

In the mid-1920s, the automobile company MG (Morris Garages) was founded. Since then it has changed several owners and is currently owned by SAIC Motor Corporation Limited. Now it has introduced its most powerful model ever produced, the MG4 EV Xpower.

The new model is based on a modular platform developed by SAIC Motor. It is decorated with a black painted roof, orange calipers, 18-inch wheels and a special light green color. It will debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK.

When it comes to the powertrain, the MG4 EV Xpower is powered by two electric motors (one at the front with 204 hp/ and one at the rear axle with 231 hp/) with a total power of 435 hp and 600 Nm of torque. It has AWD which allows the electric MG to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.8 seconds. For now, MG has not revealed the top speed of this EV, nor what battery it will be equipped with.

The car is equipped with a dynamic control system, which is a first for an MG model. It has an electronic differential lock and an intelligent engine management module, which results in a torque vectoring system and better handling. Compared to the regular MG4 EV, the new model has a 25% stiffer suspension, thanks to changes to the dampers and springs, as well as stiffer anti-roll bars. There are also new better brake components with ventilated 345mm discs on all wheels.

Before the premiere, MG announced that the MG4 EV Xpower will cost 42,500 euros.

Ford SuperVan 4 with 1,973 HP

The annual Pikes Peak International Hill Climb will take place on the last Sunday of June, and Ford has already announced that it will compete with an electric van, the SuperVan 4.

Ford unveiled the SuperVan 4 in the middle of last year, as part of the launch of the new e-Transit model. The vehicle was premiered at the Goodwood Festival of Speed where it was driven by Romain Dumas, who will also be behind the wheel at Pikes Peak this year. This superpowered van is great for Pikes Peak because its electric drivetrain doesn’t lose power with altitude, unlike an internal combustion engine.

The Ford SuperVan 4 is powered by four electric motors with a total output of 1,973 hp (1,451 kW). It hits 62 mph in less than 2 seconds, and is expected to set a very good time.

The current race record is 7:57.148, set by Dumas in 2018 when he drove the all-electric Volkswagen I.D. R Pikes Peak. Who knows, maybe Dumas will set the best time again this year, but behind the wheel of a Ford SuperVan.
