Maserati MC20 on the Nürburgring Nordschleife

The German magazine Sport Auto tested another supercar on the most famous Nürburgring Nordschleife race track, and this time it’s the Maserati MC20. Journalist, racer and test driver Christian Gebhardt tried his best to set the fastest lap time, but failed.

Maserati MC20 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 Nettuno engine with 621 hp (463 kW) and 538 lb-ft (729 Nm) of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends power to the rear axle. It reaches 62 mph in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 201 mph (323 km / h). It is mounted on Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires.

The Maserati MC20 completed the 20,830 km (12,943 mi) long course in 7 minutes and 25.26 seconds, two seconds faster than the time achieved by the Ferrari 812 Superfast. It was also a second slower than the two-seater Maserati MC12 supercar that clocked a lap time of 7:24.29 nearly two decades ago. But considering the fact that the car wasn’t developed on the Nordschleife, it was a respectable lap time!

2006 Maserati MC12 Versione Corse is up for auction

Between 2004 and 2005, Maserati produced 50 examples of the limited edition sports car, the MC12. However, increased customer demand for this model led Maserati to produce an additional 12 cars for the racetrack in 2006. It’s the Maserati MC12 Versione Corsa developed directly from the 2005 FIA GT Manufacturers Cup winner, the MC12 GT1. All 12 cars were sold to selected customers, and one of them, the 2006 Maserati MC12 Versione Corse, is up for auction.

From the very beginning, Maserati fans have considered it the ultimate form of performance. It is powered by a 6.0-Liter DOHC Naturally Aspirated V12 engine with 745 hp (555 kW) at 8,000 rpm, which is 120 hp (90 kW) more than the road going MC12. The car weighs 1,134 kg and reaches 124 mph ( 200 km/h) accelerates in 6.4 seconds with a top speed of 203 mph (326 km/h). Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed sequential gearbox, while power is sent to the rear wheels.

This car is finished in Blue Victory, has the serial number 003 and is part of a private collection. It is in excellent condition with only 123 miles on the clock. Although it is an extremely rare car, it is interesting that the current owner has never driven it.

Over time three copies of the MC12 Versione Corse have been converted for road use, but this one is not one of them. The auction will take place on January 27 and is expected to reach a price of more than $2 million.

This is a unique opportunity to own a car that is the reigning GT World Champion and without doubt the MC12 Corsa is the ultimate track day car!
