Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is an all-electric beast with 1.548 HP

Four months ago, Xiaomi revealed its first car, the SU7, with which the Chinese tech giant officially entered the world of car manufacturers. It is a fully electric car that comes in three versions: SU7, SU7 Pro and SU7 Max, and now the offer has been expanded with an extreme version, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra.

This car looks like a racing version of the standard SU7 with touring-style bumpers, wide fenders, a large spoiler and a rear wing that creates huge downforce (up to 2,145 kilograms). It is equipped with a CATL Qilin 2.0 battery with a maximum discharge rate of 1,330 kWh and AP Racing high-performance brakes assisted by a regenerative braking system, which allows the car to stop from 300 km/h in just 15 seconds.

When it comes to the powertrain, the SU7 Ultra is powered by three electric motors with a total output of 1,548 hp (1,154 kW), which is enough to push the 1,900 kg car from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 1.97 seconds, 200 km/h in 5.97 seconds and 300 km/h in 15 seconds, with a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph).

Xiaomi has announced that with the SU7 Ultra, it wants to set a new record lap time on one of the most famous race tracks in the world, the Nurburgring Nordschleife, held by the Tesla Model S Plaid (7:25.23). It wouldn’t be a surprise if that happened, as the SU7 Ultra has more horsepower than the Model S Plaid and the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, which is the second-fastest production car on the track. Whether the SU7 Ultra will succeed in this remains to be seen.

Porsche Panamera is the fastest car on Nurburgring Nordschleife

The premiere of the new generation of the Porsche Panamera is approaching, and the current prototype is being tested on the world’s most famous track, the Nurburgring Nordschleife, on which it set the fastest lap time in the category of cars from the E-segment.

Porsche is still keeping the technical details of this car under wraps, but what we do know so far is that it is equipped with the Active Ride suspension, which was first introduced on the Panamera earlier this year. This prototype was fitted with a new optional carbon aerodynamic body kit, which included four-way adjustable Gurney spoilers for the rear wing. Porsche experts claim that the Gurney wing reduces the lift of the front part of the car and creates downforce, but the exact data is not specified. It was mounted on specially developed 21-inch Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.

The Porsche Panamera covered the 20,830 km (12,943 mi) long track in 7:24.17, which is 5.64 seconds faster than the Panamera Turbo S, and three seconds faster than the previous record holder, the Mercedes-AMG GT63 S.

“The powertrain, the aerodynamics, the chassis, the new ultra-high-performance tires from Michelin – many aspects have contributed to this best time. The new Porsche Active Ride chassis has made a particularly big contribution. The car stays parallel to the road at all times. Its cornering and body stability are on a whole new level. As a driver, this gives me a good feeling and further underlines that our development doesn’t just offer maximum day-to-day driving comfort, but also makes a real difference on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. No other Porsche offers such a wide spectrum between comfort and sportiness. The new Panamera combines the positive properties of an exclusive touring saloon with the handling of a sports car,” said Porsche test driver Lars Kern.

Lotus Evija X on the Nurburgring Nordschleife

The Lotus Evija X is a limited edition of a super-powerful electric car from the British manufacturer, which a few days ago set one of the fastest lap times on the most famous race track in the world, the Nurburgring Nordschleife.

For now, Lotus is not revealing enough details about this model, which is designated as a prototype. However, some sources say that it uses the same powertrain as the Lotus Evija model that debuted at the 2019 Guangzhou Auto Show and went into production in 2020. This means that the Evija X is powered by 4 electric motors, 1 placed at each wheel, with a total power of 2,011 hp (1,500 kW) and 1,257 lb-ft (1,704 Nm) of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in under 3 seconds, from 0 to 300 km/h (190 mph) in 9.1 seconds, and achieve a limited top speed of 349 km/h (217 mph).

When it comes to design, the car is equipped with better aerodynamic components than the Evija model, a massive front splitter, a large rear wing, new suspension and brakes, while everything unnecessary has been removed from the cockpit.

The Lotus Evija X completed the 20,830 km (12,943 mi) long course in 6:24,047, the third fastest time of the course. Faster than the Evi X were the Volkswagen ID.R (6:05.336) and the Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo (5:19.546).
