After Rolls Royce’s record sales in 2021, Porsche also announced that it achieved sales growth of 11 percent compared to 2020. According to the report, Porsche sold over 300,000 cars in the previous year. Most importantly, the company has achieved growth in all parts of the world.
Porsche achieved the highest sales growth in the United States with 22 percent (70,025 cars), Germany with 9 percent (28,565 cars) and China with 8 percent (96,671 cars).
When it comes to Europe, 40 percent of total sales (86,160 cars) are plug-in hybrid and fully electric models. The best-selling Porsche model is the Macan (88,262 units), and what is most surprising is that the Taycan surpassed the 911 model in sales. The popular “elf” achieved a historic result with 38,464 units sold.
“Despite the challenges posed by the semi-conductor shortage and the disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic we have been working hard to enable more customers than ever before to fulfill their dream of owning a Porsche. Demand remains high and our order books are looking very robust, so we start 2022 full of momentum and confidence in all regions of the world, ”said sales and marketing boss Detlec von Platen.
Of the other models, the Panamera (30,220 units) and the 718 Boxster / Cayman (20,502 units) sold the most. In the Asia-Pacific region, Africa and the Middle East, Porsche achieved sales growth of 8 percent with 131,098 cars sold.
