Porsche 911 Hybrid is ready

For a long time, Porsche resisted the idea of producing its now legendary 911 model as fully electric or partially electric. However, under market pressure, the Stuttgart-based company gave up and began development of the first hybrid 911, which after testing in various conditions is officially ready for production.

“For the first time in our icon’s 61-year history, we’re putting a hybrid powertrain into a road-legal 911. This innovative high-performance hybrid makes the 911 even more dynamic. During development, we left nothing to chance and tested the new 911 in all kinds of conditions around the world. From extreme cold to extreme heat, as was the case during the final stages of testing in Dubai. Whether it’s putting a heavy load on the powertrain in the demanding conditions of mountain passes or in stop-and-go traffic in city conditions, the new 911 has mastered even the toughest challenges with ease. All in all, our engineers and test drivers have covered more than five million kilometers of development driving,” said Frank Moser, vice president of the 911 and 718 model line.

The car has so far been tested on snowy roads, but also on one of the most famous racing tracks, the Nürburgring. Spy photos showed that the test prototype has a similar design to previous models. The front end with large air intakes and vertical slats, additional lights on the sides that should not be part of the final design, narrower arches, a smaller spoiler and centrally placed exhaust pipes are just some of the features of this prototype.

On the Nürburgring Nordschleife, the Porsche 911 Hybrid achieved a lap time of 7:16.934, which is 8.7 seconds faster than the model with an internal combustion engine. “The new 911 has become significantly faster on the track. We have stronger grip, significantly more power, and the spontaneous response of the high-performance hybrid is a big advantage,” said Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister.

Porsche is still hiding information about performance and powertrain. However, it has long been speculated that the 911 Hybrid could be powered by a naturally aspirated 4.0L engine, like the one in the Cayman GT4, with more than 650 hp (478 kW). Anyway, we will have to wait for the official presentation which should take place soon.

1957 Porsche 356A Cabriolet sold for $85,356 USD

Porsche’s first production car, the 356, fetched six figures at auction for years, and buyers seem to be slowly losing interest in this model. One example, a 1957 Porsche 356A Cabriolet, was recently sold for “only” $85,356 USD.

The car is finished in black, well maintained and in good condition. It is equipped with a Ruetter body, a black soft top with a matching boot cover as well as dual side mirrors, a rear luggage rack with leather fasteners, polished side spears and rocker panel trim, and body-color bumpers with overriders and integrated exhaust. outlets at the rear, Koni shocks at the rear and four-wheel hydraulic drums.

Inside, the seats are covered in red leather that also covers the door panels and the upper part of the dash. In front of the driver are a two-spoke steering wheel and a five-digit odometer showing 52,076 km (~32k miles). Additional equipment includes belts on the front seats, squareweave carpets covered with black rubber floor linings, Blaupunkt push-button radio and a passenger grab handle, and a gold ASI plate is mounted on the right kick panel.

In 2023, the car was serviced, which included rebuilding the dual carburetors, replacing the fuel pump and cleaning the fuel tank. Along with the car, the new owner received import paperwork, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, dealer consignment in North Carolina with refurbishment photos, and transferable New York State registration.

This 356A is powered by a 1.6-liter flat-four engine with dual downdraft carburetors paired with a four-speed manual transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. It sits on chrome-finished 15″ steel wheels wrapped in 165-series Vredestein Sprint Classic tires.

2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT Safety Car

At the beginning of March, Porsche presented the Taycan Turbo GT, which will be the new Safety Car for the rest of the Formula E season. It is the most powerful production car of the Stuttgart company, but also more powerful than racing cars.

Porsche Taycan Turbo GT is powered by two electric motors, one on each axle, with a total power of 789 hp (580 kW) and 988 lb-ft (1,340 Nm) of torque. Thanks to Launch Control, the power increases to 1,033 hp (760 kW) or to 1,108 hp (815 kW) for two seconds. That’s quite enough to propel the car from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.2 seconds, 200 km/h (124 mph) in 6.6 seconds with a top speed of 306 km/h (190 mph).

The car will make its debut at the race in Brlin on May 12, 2024, and two examples will be presented. One car will be finished in Purple Sky Metallic and will be equipped with the Weissach package, while the other car will be finished in a shade of green. Both will be equipped with safety lights, flashing lights, fire extinguishers, as well as special communication equipment.

As a reminder, the road-legal Taycan Turbo GT embodies its track-oriented character with a redesigned body kit. It is equipped with the Weissach package, which contributes to weight reduction by eliminating the rear seats, an adaptive rear spoiler with Gurney wing and an in-built splitter with integrated “air wings”, a new rear diffuser, combined with air-directing elements in the chassis, creating 220 kg of downforce. It’s mounted on a set of new 21-inch lightweight forged wheels.

The dark cabin is equipped with adaptive sports seats with Race-Tex and black leather upholstery and a GT Sport steering wheel. The Turbo GT logo adorns the headrests and center console. Volt blue or GT silver contrasting tones, as well as different shades of stitching, are also available as an option. The Weissach package includes an analog clock, floor mats and luggage compartment mats, as well as insulating material. Porsche even opted for a single charging port on the passenger side, as well as lighter materials in the trunk.
