2009 Mercedes-AMG SL65 Black Series is up for auction

In 2008, Mercedes-AMG unveiled the Black Series version of the SL 65 AMG. It was produced until 2011 and this limited edition was reproduced in only 350 copies. One of them, the 2009 Mercedes-AMG SL65 Black Series is up for auction.

This Mercedes-AMG SL65 Black Series 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-12 engine with 661 hp (486 kW) and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a SpeedShift Plus five-speed automatic transmission. It reaches 62 mph in 3.8 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 199 mph (320 km/h). It is mounted on 19″ and 20″ light-alloy wheels wrapped in 265/35R19 front and 325/30R20 rear tires.

The car is finished in Palladium Silver, well maintained and in good condition with only 835 miles on the odometer. It is equipped with panels made of plastic reinforced with carbon fibers, fixed roof instead of the convertible hard-top, retractable spoiler made of carbon fibers, suspension fettled by motorsport, AMG aluminum rims. It has a steering wheel on the left side. Adding to the overall appeal is the stunning Black Nappa leather and Alcantara interior.

This car is a good opportunity for collectors to expand their collections with another exceptional car, given the rarity of this model. In 2022, the owner installed new boot struts, and replaced the engine oil and filter.

The Mercedes-AMG SL65 Black Series comes with a Mercedes-Benz operating manual and service book, and is being offered at RM Sotheby’s auction with an estimated value of £275,000 – £325,000 GBP.

1957 Porsche 356A Carrera GT Speedster is up for auction

The Porsche 356 is one of the most collectible cars from the Stuttgart-based company. It was produced in four versions, and in 1955 Porsche introduced the second racing version, the 356A. Two years later, the road legal 356A Speedster (known as Type 2) arrived on the market. One of them, a 1957 Porsche 356A Carrera GT Speedster is up for auction.

The 356A Carrera GT Speedster is powered by a replacement 1.5L four-cam engine with 109 hp (81 kW), paired with a four-speed manual transmission. This car was restored in 1988 when it was painted in Silver Metallic and is in excellent condition. It is equipped with 60-millimeter ventilated front brakes, rear wheel spacers, 80-liter GT fuel tank, replacement gearbox. The interior contains the original panels, doors, decklid, and lightweight GT interior, with new floors, battery box, and rockers.

The car comes with a Blaupunkt jack and tool roll, a rare “Touring” kit containing cables, bulbs, fuses, and gaskets, uninstalled rollbar, “Atlantis” braided tow rope in a correct blue vinyl storage bag, period-correct driver’s manual with Carrera supplement , factory Kardex, and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

1990 Ferrari F40 owned by Alain Prost is for sale

The Ferrari F40 is one of the legendary cars of the Maranello-based company. When an example appears for sale, it always attracts the attention of collectors and reaches high figures, especially if it is related to a famous person. Such is the case with this 1990 Ferrari F40 that was owned by Alain Prost.

After winning his third Formula 1 championship title in 1989 as a Honda Marlboro McLaren team driver, Alain Prost moved to the Scuderia Ferrari team. On that occasion, Ferrari gave Prost this Ferrari F40 model. Interestingly, the champion never drove it, so he sold the car shortly after it was delivered to him.

In the meantime, the car has changed several owners, was registered in Jersey, and is currently located in France. The car was featured in the April 1997 issue of Motor Sport magazine in an article celebrating 50 years of Ferrari. It was completed in late 1989 in Rosso Corsa and built without catalytic converters or adjustable suspension, features that would come to mark later-production F40s.

The F40 is powered by a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with 478 hp (356 kW) and 426 lb-ft (578 Nm) of torque. That’s enough power to push the car up to 62 mph in 4.2 seconds with a top speed of 201 mph (323 km / h). Power is sent to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission. The clock shows just under 2,900 miles at the time of cataloguing.

The auction will take place 10 – 12 May 2023 and the car is expected to reach a price of €2,500,000 – €3,000,000 EUR.
