Polestar Charge gives access to almost 700k chargers in Europe

Car manufacturers are rapidly working on the electrification of their cars, but the number of charging stations is not keeping up with their growth. Tesla is the largest investor in electric vehicle infrastructure and the owner of 50,000 Supercharger charging stations, and now Polestar has announced that with the company Plugsurfing, it is launching a charging service in Europe called Polestar Charge.

Polestar Charge is an application that gives access to almost 700,000 chargers with a single charge service on the largest charging networks on the old continent. This is the first time Tesla Supercharger has given app access to its chargers.

This feature will be available before Polestar starts delivering the Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 in Europe. The app will be integrated with Google Maps to make it easier to find chargers.

“We know that an important part of owning an electric car is the possibility of convenient charging. With access to the largest networks in Europe and smart integration into Google Maps, we’ve made it easy for Polestar drivers to enjoy life with an electric car instead of worrying about where they’ll find their next charge,” comments Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of Polestar.

Hyundai electric cars will use Tesla Supercharger charging stations

Tesla is the largest investor in electric vehicle infrastructure and the owner of 50,000 Supercharger charging stations that can also be used by other electric cars. After General Motors, Honda, Jaguar, Nissan and Volvo, now owners of Hyundai electric cars that have adopted the NACS charging standards can use these charging stations.

The Hyundai Group also announces that Hyundai, Kia and Genesis electric models will be equipped with NACS connectors that are compatible with Tesla charging stations, and that from 2024 they will be able to charge at them throughout North America.

By the end of next year, the Korean group claims that all models sold in North America will be equipped with NACS connectors. Also, from 2025, all other owners who already have an electric model of one of the Korean brands equipped with a CCS connection, will be able to order a special adapter, so that they can use Tesla chargers.

Tesla is the largest manufacturer of electric cars in the world and recently announced that it produced its 5 millionth car. The growth of production started three years ago when in just 18 months Tesla exceeded the production of two million vehicles, three million in just 11 months, and four million seven months later. All this was achieved thanks to the large capacities of Tesla’s factories, but also to the great demand. At the beginning of July, the company announced that it had built the first Cybertruck in Giga Texas and that it had received more than 1.9 million orders.

Jaguar will use Tesla Supercharger stations

A large number of electric cars requires solving the issue of fast charging stations, and Tesla is a leader in that field, as it recently installed its 50,000th Supercharger in California. They will be used by all brands whose cars have adopted the NACS charging standard, such as Honda, which has already done so, and from now on, Jaguar.

From 2025, all Jaguar electric cars will adopt the NACS charging standard developed by Tesla, but will only use charging stations in North America. Jaguar has announced the launch of three new SUV models, which will go on sale from 2025. Also, Jaguar says that buyers of the current I-Pace, a model that will end its life by mid-2025, will receive a special adapter so that the car can be powered at the Tesla Supercharger. That will happen already next year.

A large number of Supercharger stations attracts other car manufacturers to accept the NACS standard, and the British brand Land Rover is one of them. The British car manufacturer announced that its new electric cars will be equipped with technology that will allow charging at Suercharger stations.
