1986 Porsche 911 Turbo is for sale

48 years ago, Porsche introduced the internal designation for the turbocharged variant of the 911 model, the Porsche 930 Turbo. It was produced for 24 years and over 21k cars reached their owners. One of them, a 1986 Porsche 911 Turbo is for sale.

Porsche 911 Turbo is powered by a 3.3-liter turbocharged flat-six engine with 282 hp (207 kW) and 278 lb-ft (380 Nm) of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. It is mounted on 16″ Fuchs alloy wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza RE050 tires.

The car is finished in Guards Red, properly maintained and in good condition. It is equipped with a sunroof, fog lights, black stone guards ahead of the rear wheels, a rear window wiper, dual exhaust outlets, four-wheel cross-drilled and ventilated discs. Three years ago, the car was serviced, which included replacing the fuel filter, intake manifold gaskets, oil cooler lines, brake components, vacuum lines, and ignition components.

Inside, the sports seats are upholstered in black leather that covers both the door panels and the dash. There’s also a four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel and a six-digit odometer showing 71,989 miles. Additional equipment includes air conditioning, a Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 DAB stereo, an analog clock, and power windows.

The car has a clean Carfax report that shows no accidents or other damage. It comes with a window sticker, the owner’s manual, service records, spare parts, and a clean title in the owner’s name.

The auction ends on October 24 and the highest bid at the time of writing was USD $94,930.

DR Automobiles under investigation by Italian authorities

While the EU is investigating carmakers for Chinese subsidies, a small Italian company, DR Automobiles, is under investigation by authorities for misleading customers about the origin of its cars.

DR Automobiles was founded in 2006 by Massimo Di Risio and sells cars from Chinese automakers BAIC, Chery Automobile and JAC Motors under its badge. Well, here’s how they do it. They have established a simple system of processing Chinese cars with refined Italian design and partly buying selected European technology. The result is affordable SUV models, and the slogan “Una storia Italiana” itself is part of finely packaged marketing combined with patriotism, trying to hide the origin of the vehicle.

One of the brands whose cars DR Automobiles sells is EVO, and so far around 24,200 vehicles have been sold in Italy in the first nine months of 2023, which is 48 percent more compared to the same period in 2022. That’s a market share of two percent. It’s not a big number, but the affordable prices and attractive design of these cars threaten the competition and take customers not only from domestic but also from some foreign brands such as Honda, Suzuki and Mitsubishi.

Last Thursday, the Italian Competition Authority (AGCM) and the Italian tax police conducted an inspection at the headquarters of DR Automobiles and its parent company Donington, the statement said. The “sin” of the company is that it hid information about the country of origin of some of the models. “In some cases, they would omit relevant information about the origin of the cars, suggesting that they were entirely manufactured in Italy, while the vehicles appear to be Chinese-made,” AGCM said in a statement. Representatives from DR Automobile have not commented on this case for now.

New Rimac Nevera and eight years of free charging in Europe

IONITY is the largest European network of charging stations, which has over 1,500 charging points on the old continent, and the goal is 7,000 charging points in the future. Rimac Automobili is one of the users of these charging stations, and the company recently announced that those who buy the new Rimac Nevera get free charging in Europe.

In 2021, Mate Rimac announced that the company will build a campus in Croatia with its own funds, which will be the headquarters of Bugatti Rimac. The project was completed on time, and the company recently announced that it is looking for 50 employees for the paint shop in the Rimac campus, who will join the existing team of 26 experts. Now the plan is to build a station with six chargers for visitors to use.

Rimac Nevera is the fastest electric production car, but also one of the most expensive cars in the world (USD $2 million). “When people think of Rimac, they think of the record-breaking performance delivered by Nevera, as well as the cutting-edge technologies at the heart of the company. Nevera was primarily developed as a hyper GT, more than a track-focused car, it’s actually a user-friendly car. Cooperation with IONITY allows us to raise this experience to a higher level,” said Mate Rimac, founder and CEO of Rimac Automobili.

The Rimac Nevera is powered by four electric motors with a total power of 1,914 hp (1,408 kW) and 1,741 lb-ft (2,360 Nm) of torque. It reaches 62 mph in just 1.97 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 219 mph (352 km/h). It is equipped with a lithium-manganese-nickel battery with 6,960 cells and a capacity of 120kWh.
