2024 Alpine A110 R Le Mans

Today (June 10), one of the most famous endurance races in the world, the 24 Hours of Le Mans, will begin, celebrating its centenary. On this occasion, Alpine presented a limited edition of its racing car, the A110 R Le Mans.

The car is considered a collector’s item and will be produced in only 100 copies. The ultralight Coupé is based on the recently presented Alpine A110 R and it is finished in white with blue details and Le Mans markings, while the interior is equipped with carbon elements and aluminum accessories.

Under the hood is a turbocharged 1.8L four-cylinder engine with 300 hp (221 kW) and 251 lb-ft (340 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. That’s enough power to push the 1,082 kg car to 62 mph (100 km/h) in a respectable 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 285 km/h (177 mph).

The car will be produced in only 100 copies and will cost 140,000 euros. Also, the French car manufacturer announced that, next season, all owners of the A110 R Le Mans will have access to the team pit in the WEC (World Endurance Championship).

Porsche Mission X

This is a big year for Porsche as it celebrates its 75th anniversary. On this occasion, the Stuttgart-based company presented a new concept, the Mission X, as the successor to the Porsche 918 Spyder.

An electric super sports two-seater has been unveiled at the Porsche Museum, presenting a glimpse into the world of super sports cars powered only by electric motors. Although not confirmed, some rumors say that the Mission X will have 1,500 hp (1,103 kW). If true, it will be interesting to see how fast it will be on one of the best race tracks in the world, the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The current record holder among electric cars is the Tesla Model S Plaid, which dethroned another Porsche car, the Taycan Turbo S.

The car is equipped with a carbon body with retro LED headlights, LED rear light housings and doors like those on the racing prototypes. There is also an adaptive suspension, significantly better cornering grip, and a multifunctional steering wheel. It’s mounted on 20- and 21-inch wheels wrapped in 255/35/20 front and 315/20/21 rear Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 R tires.

Definitely, the new era of electric Porsche cars is well underway, and the Mission X could represent the continuation of what Porsche cars like the 959, Carrera GT and 918 Spyder were.

Alfa Romeo is developing its first electric car

Alfa Romeo begins a new era in its 113-year-long history with its first electric car, known as the “Kid”. It is a small crossover that will be smaller than the current Alfa Romeo Tonale.

The company didn’t reveal many details, but it will have sporty DNA and “change things up and change the rules in the segment.” Kid is a code name, and what the car will be called is left to the fans to guess.

Previously, there were rumors that the first Alfa Romeo electric car would be called the Brenner, but that will not be the case. Some are also speculating that it could be called the Sebring, as it will reportedly represent a slightly different version of the Jeep Avenger. Whether it will be like that remains to be seen.

The car is still in the development phase, and more information should appear at the beginning of next year, when the premiere is expected. This means that, if everything goes well, the first copies should reach their owners in the middle of 2024.
