Sweden will be the first country with electrified roads

The European Union has officially banned the sale of new cars with an internal combustion engine by 2035, so companies and countries are working hard on the new era of electrification. Sweden will be the first country with electrified roads, and in the next two decades the country plans to build 3,000 kilometers of modern highways.

The first section of the electric highway will be built in the next two years. The electric highway will enable the vehicle’s battery to be charged while driving on it, but it is not clear how this will be done. There are three possibilities: catenary system, inductive system and conductive system. Experts believe that this will mean longer journeys for vehicles with smaller capacity batteries. This should prevent long waits at charging stations.

According to Euronews, Sweden is a pioneer in the electrification of roads through several projects, and among these projects is an electric highway that should connect the logistics hubs between the cities of Hallsberg and Orebro, which are located between three large cities – Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmo.

The research found that the size of car batteries could be reduced by 70 percent with electric roads. In doing so, it was determined that not all roads in Sweden would have to be electrified. It is estimated that it would be necessary to electrify only 25 percent of roads.

Sweden is cooperating with Germany and France regarding the construction of electric roads that Italy, Great Britain and the United States of America also intend to build.

BMW M2 upgraded by Autoid

The BMW M2 was premiered at the end of last year, and is the last one with ICE. Although owners already have several tuning options, the UK-based company Autoid has prepared a new carbon body kit for the BMW M2 (G87).

The body kit brings subtle but effective improvements to the exterior, but it also contributes to aerodynamics by increasing downforce and reducing drag. The front splitter, side skirts and rear bumper extensions with integrated wings have a “bare” carbon finish that adds to the car’s sporty appearance. Another detail is the carbon addition that visually connects the fenders and sills. Out back is a fixed rear wing that can be adjusted for road or track use. All components are light and do not add to the weight of the car.

There were no changes under the hood. The BMW M2 is powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-6 engine with 453 hp (333 kW) and 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque. The same engine powers the current M4 model. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic technology. Owners will be able to choose a six-speed manual transmission as an option. It reaches 62 mph in 3.9 seconds with the automatic transmission or 4.1 if the manual transmission is used. BMW has electronically limited the top speed to 155 mph (250 km/h), but this can be increased to 177 mph (285 km/h) with the optional M Driver’s Package.

Inside, M Sport seats with illuminated M logo on the headrests will provide the driver with maximum comfort. Buyers will be able to choose the M Carbon package, which offers carbon seats that are 10.8 kilograms lighter than the standard M Sport seats. Entering the vehicle, the first thing the driver will notice is the curved display on the instrument panel, with two screens of 12.3 and 14.9 inches through which the driver can adjust various vehicle systems, such as the chassis, steering, braking and M traction control .

Skoda announces six new electric cars by 2027

Is the auto industry in Europe in trouble? This question can be heard lately, and it is based on the fact that many companies are moving production from Europe or thinking about it. However, companies are working hard on the electrification of existing models as well as the production of new ones. Such is the case with Skoda, which announced the arrival of six electric cars by the end of 2026, and total investments of 5.6 billion euros.

Officially, the European Union bans the sale of new cars with an internal combustion engine by 2035. Skoda announces the arrival of the Compact model next year, as a compact crossover called the Elroq. It is the electric successor of the Karoq model, which will be 4.5 meters long and will be “an ideal family car with a spacious and very practical interior”.

The refreshed Enyaq and Enyaq Coupe will be introduced in 2025, will experience significant changes that include the Modern Solid design. Skoda hasn’t said much about these models, but renderings suggest they have a more aggressive-looking front fascia without the traditional grille.

Other models are expected from 2025, and the first is Small. It is a sub-compact SUV-style car, 4.1 meters long, and the basic price will be 25,000 euros. It looks like it will be Skoda’s version of Volkswagen’s ID.2all, which will be built in Spain. The Combi is expected in 2026 as a spacious electric station wagon with a length of about 4.7 meters, and it will play a “key role” and will “bring the power of the particularly popular and successful Škoda body design into the electric age.” This model will be ideal for families and businesses.

The latest to hit the market is a seven-seat crossover inspired by last year’s Vision 7S concept, the Skoda Space. It will be Skoda’s largest electric car with a length of about 4.9 meters and a huge interior space. Also, it will be decorated with the new Modern Solid design language. This design reinterprets traditional features and boldly breaks new ground.
