2013 Lotus E21 is up for auction

Formula 1 cars don’t come up for auction very often, especially those driven by world champions, and one such car is up for sale. It’s a 2013 Lotus E21 driven by Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean, with an estimated value of €350,000 – €450,000.

In his 19-year Formula 1 career, Kimi Raikkonen has achieved 21 wins and 103 podiums, driving for 5 teams (Sauber, McLaren, Ferrari, Lotus, Alfa Romeo), but only one championship title. One of the cars he drove in the 2013 season is this Lotus E21, and what’s interesting about this car is that it didn’t achieve a single win.

The car was contested at five Grands Prix in the hands of Kimi Räikkönen, and a further seven with Romain Grosjean, achieving three 2nd places (Germany, Hungary, and United States) and three 3rd places (South Korea, Japan, and India). It is offered in static, non-running condition on behalf of BWT Alpine F1 Team, and it is not known if the original 2.4-liter V-8 Renault RS27-2013 engine with 750 hp at 18,000 rpm is still in the car.

This Lotus E21 has its original livery and will be auctioned on February 5, 2025 in Paris.

All-electric Dacia Sandero coming soon

The Dacia Sandero has long been Europe’s best-selling car, and the Romanian brand has decided to expand its range with an all-electric version. The new all-electric Sandero will debut in two years.

Although sales of electric cars in 2024 were not at the expected level, Dacia hopes that their cheapest model in the segment could further attract new customers and ensure better operation in the future when EVs become more popular. Price will play a big role here, and the Sandero is far more competitive with Chinese models than other European cars.

In a recent interview with Car Magazine, the CEO of Automobile Dacia Denis Le Vot said that the new generation of Sandero will also use the existing platform. “There is no reason not to continue with the same platform. It is new, it is five years old, and the electrical architecture is even younger because it appeared when the General Safety Regulations 2 arrived,” Le Vot said.

Dacia has not yet decided which battery will be used in the new Sandero, and is looking for the cheapest option, so buyers of the all-electric version certainly cannot count on a long range. “Every car manufacturer tries to offer their best solution for electric vehicles, which is a range of between 500 and 500 kilometers, as well as a 20-minute charge on the highway. We are definitely not going to do that,” said Le Vot.

2026 Zeekr 007 GT

While some manufacturers don’t see a future for station wagons, Chinese company Zeekr thinks otherwise, and the proof is the Zeekr 7 GT. It’s a new car that will be sold under this name in the European market, while in China it will be called the Zeekr 007 GT.

The car will have a similar design to the 007 model, but also some changes. It features an LED light strip up front with integrated lights and daytime running lights, vertical air curtains on the sides of the bumper, a larger lower grille with vents that can be opened and closed, new side skirts and C-pillars. The roof line towards the back creates a Shooting Brake shape, and above the rear window are two aerodynamic fins and a small spoiler.

The Chinese company is still keeping a lot of things under wraps, and many believe that like the Zeekr 007 and Zeekr 7 GT, it will be based on the Sustainable Electric Architecture (SEA) platform, which allows front- and all-wheel drive. It is also believed that the engine power will range between 422 and 646 hp, which is the case with the sedan. It will have Geely’s Golden battery that supports charging speeds of up to 500 kW and just 15 minutes of charging is enough to cover 500 kilometers. This is partly possible thanks to the 800-volt architecture.

The car will debut in Q2 2025, and more information about this car should be known soon.
