Rimac Nevera and Lamborghini Huracan in a drag race

Rimac Nevera recently set the fastest time on the Nürburgring Nordschleife (7:05:928), in the category of production electric cars. It is an extremely powerful and fast car that many want to defeat in a one-on-one race. A tuned Lamborghini Huracan tried that too in a drag race organized by the Carwow team.

Rimac Nevera is powered by four electric motors with a total power of 1,914 hp (1,408 kW) and 1,741 lb-ft (2,360 Nm) of torque which is enough to push the car to 62 mph in just 1.81 seconds with the title of EV with the highest verified top speed of 256 (412 km/h). It is equipped with a lithium-manganese-nickel battery with 6,960 cells and a capacity of 120kWh.

The Lamborghini Huracan is a project of British tuner company JM Imports, powered by an improved 5.2-liter naturally-aspirated V10 engine with 1,800 hp (1,324 kW) and 1,106 lb-ft (1,500 Nm) of torque. The car has a fully built engine, fully built gearbox, fuel system, drive shafts, clutches, differential, turbos, etc.

In the first 1/4 mile race, Nevera had a better start and finish, crossing the finish line first. In the second attempt, the Huracan had a better start, but the Nevera was still faster. And the third attempt was also unsuccessful for the Lamborghini Huracan. A good start, but the time of 8.7 seconds was insufficient. Rimac nevera covered the 1/4 mile in 8.5 seconds.

In the 1/2 mile race at 30 mph, the Lamborghini held on well for most of the race but still not enough to cross the finish line first. In the race at 50 mph, Nevera was much faster. In the brake test at 100mph, the Huracan finally did better.

Although we expected better results from the Lamborghini Huracan, the Rimac Nevera showed why it is one of the fastest cars in the world.

37 years since the Jeep Wrangler hit the market

At the 1986 Chicago Auto Show, Jeep premiered the successor to the Jeep CJ, the Jeep Wrangler. It’s been 37 years since then, and the Wrangler has withstood all its competitors. The fact that it was sold in 5 million copies shows how popular the car is.

That’s quite an achievement, especially considering that the Wrangler is, in any case, a limited niche model. Still, this sales result makes the Wrangler the best-selling Jeep model of all time. Since it’s still in production and more popular than ever, this million mark will be hard to beat by any other model from the American automobile marque.

When it hit the market, the car had a new chassis, upgraded suspension, a more practical interior, but also better handling on the road. Ten years later, the second generation arrived with classic round headlights, which, like the first, remained for a whole decade. In 2006, Jeep presented the third generation known as the JK Wrangler, which was built on a new platform and with a new chassis. It was the best-selling model and was produced until 2017.

The current generation Jeep Wrangler was unveiled at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show. It was the first time that Jeep offered this model as a mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid, which indicated that the company is seriously thinking about following the trend of electrification of cars.

When it comes to powertrains, the Wrangler is currently offered with five engine options: a 3.6L Pentastar V6 with 285 hp (210 kW) and 260 lb-ft (360 Nm), a 2.0L turbo I4 with 270 hp (199 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm), 6.4L HEMI V8 with 470 hp (346 kW) and 470 lb-ft (640 Nm), 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 with 260 hp (191 kW) and 442 lb-ft (600 Nm), and a 2.0L plug-in hybrid turbo I4 with 375 hp (276 kW) and 470 lb-ft (640 Nm) of torque.

2024 BYD Seal is coming to Europe

Chinese car manufacturers are seriously attacking the European market when it comes to electric vehicles. After the Chinese premium electric automobile brand, ZEEKR, another Chinese company, BYD, is expanding into the European market with the all-electric sedan, BYD Seal. The car was unveiled in April, and now it is finally coming to Europe at the end of the year.

The European BYD Seal model will be available in two versions: Design and Excellence-AWD. Both versions will be equipped with an 82.5 kWh battery, but the Design version is powered by a single electric motor with 313 hp (230 kW) sent to the rear wheels. It also has a range of 570 kilometers. Both models allow the driver to choose four driving modes: ECO mode, which prioritizes energy efficiency and extends the driving range; Normal mode, providing a balanced driving experience for everyday use; Sport mode, emphasizing performance through aggressive acceleration and sharper handling; Snow mode, designed to enhance traction and stability on slippery surfaces like snow or ice.

A more powerful version, Excellence-AWD, is powered by a two electric motors with a total power of 530 hp (390 kW). Power is sent to all wheels in the ratio of 217 hp (160 kW) to the front wheels and 313 hp (230 kW) to the rear wheels. It is built on the BYD e-Platform 3.0 for greater efficiency, aerodynamics, power, body rigidity and space utilization. Using a 150 kW DC charger, the battery is charged from 30% to 80% in 26 minutes. It has a range of 520 km.

When it comes to price, the company did not say how much the European BYD Seal will cost. Some predictions say that the entry model could cost 45,000 euros while the price for the Excellence-AWD would be around 55,000 euros.
