Ultra-Rare RUF Rt12 R With 730 HP Is Up For Auction

Recently, rare Porsche cars can be seen at auctions, and one of them is the RUF Rt12 R. The car is based on the 911 Turbo model, which in 2015 was produced in only 13 copies.

The German tuner has modified the 3.6-liter twin-turbo engine from the 996 Turbo model so that now the RUF Rt12 R is powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbo engine with 730 hp (537 kW) and 693 lb-ft (940 Nm) of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via 6-speed manual transmission. It reaches 60 mph in 3.3 seconds with a top speed of 230 mph (370 km / h). This makes the Rt12 R more powerful than the GT2 RS, which develops 700 hp (515 kW) and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque.

The car is painted in dark green. It is equipped with coilover suspension, carbon ceramic disc brakes with Yellow calipers, cast alloy intake manifold, center-lock racing wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires, and a rear wing like the one on the 997 GT3 RS. Inside are carbon seats with plaid-patterned inserts and the inscription “RUF” on the headboard.

Earlier this year, a similar example sold for $ 910,000. The car will be sold at an auction to be held May 13-21. Interestingly, this is one of two RUF Rt12 R cars with RWD, which makes it even rarer.

Porsche sales results in the first quarter of 2022

Last year was a record year for Porsche when it comes to sales, and it seems that we can expect the same in 2022. According to data released by the Stuttgart-based company, in the first three months of this year over 68,000 vehicles have been sold worldwide.

Due to all the difficulties faced by the automotive industry, Porsche achieved sales growth of 18 percent (22,791 vehicles) in Europe, which is an impressive result. The German market stands out in particular, where 6,925 vehicles were delivered, which is a growth of 16 percent compared to the same period last year.

When it comes to the rest of the world, China as the largest market recorded sales of 17,685 vehicles. 13,042 vehicles were delivered in the United States and 28,991 in the Middle East.

“Given the exceptional circumstances affecting the wider automotive industry, our sales teams and dealers performed well in the first quarter. The re-emergence of coronavirus in some regions such as China has put us, along with persistent significant supply and logistics challenges, on At the same time, the demand for our products among customers around the world is still high – they are equally in demand in Europe, America and China, ”says Detlev von Platen, Member of the Executive Sales and Marketing Board at Porsche AG.

Increasingly popular SUVs are also selling well. The highest demand was for the Porsche Cayenne with 19,029 vehicles and the Macan with 18,329 vehicles delivered. 9,327 Porsche 911 models were sold worldwide, 7,735 Panameras and 4,536 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman models.

Expectations for the rest of the year are uncertain, so Porsche is cautious when it comes to sales results. “The impact on our business activities is constantly being examined and evaluated by our working group of experts. Despite all that, we are still optimistic and we will not make any compromises when it comes to creating cars that give our customers a unique and emotional experience,” said Detlev von Platen.

Mercedes Vision EQXX with a range of more than 600 miles

Earlier this year, Mercedes revealed its new electric concept, the Vision EQXX, which was claimed to have a range of 600 miles (1,000 km). Now this has been confirmed after the car crossed from Sindelfingen, through the Swiss Alps and northern Italy, to the destination Cassis on the Cote d’Azur, with a single charge.

Before departure, the car’s charger cover was sealed. The trip started in cold and rainy conditions, and there was a driving supervision team in the vehicle. In the other, the accompanying vehicle, was an independent expert from TÜV Süd.

How much aerodynamics with a minimum frontal surface of the vehicle affects the reduction of air resistance and thus energy consumption, Mercedes has shown by crossing 1,008 kilometers with a record low average consumption of 8.7 kWh / 100 kilometers. After 11 hours and 32 minutes of driving, the battery showed “only” 15 percent of capacity, which is enough for the vehicle to cover an additional 140 km.

The Vision EQXX is powered by an electric motor that develops 201 hp, and the drive is so efficient that 95 percent of the energy ends up on wheels. The car also has a 117-cell solar panel, which provides energy for the HVAC system, lights and infotainment system. A separate lithium-iron-phosphate battery stores energy and, in ideal conditions, can offer 25 kilometers of extra range.

Mercedes has equipped the EQXX with air curtains, covers and moving elements including a rear diffuser that pulls out at higher speeds, Bridgestone tires with ultra-low rolling resistance. Inside, there’s an 8K resolution 120.6cm screen with a navigation system with 3D graphics showing the city from a “satellite perspective” up to 10 feet high.
