Another example of Porsche’s first production car, the 1965 Porsche 356C coupe, is up for auction. It is the last revision of the 356 model that was introduced in 1964, the same year that Porsche introduced its successor, the now legendary 911 model.

This car is powered by a replacement engine taken from a 1960 356B Super. In 2018, the engine was overhauled and a light starter with a transmission reducer was installed, and the accessory belt, generator pulleys, and distributor cap and points were replaced. Two years later, the engine received a big bore kit which increased the displacement to 1,720cc. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.

Porsche 356C is finished in white and is in good condition. It is equipped with a rear luggage rack, a twin-grille deck lid, pop-out quarter windows, and body-color bumpers with chrome accents in addition to dual exhaust outlets that exit through the rear overriders, and disc brakes on all four wheels. It is mounted on 15″ steel wheels wrapped in 195/65 Toyo Extensa A/S tires.

Inside, the seats are trimmed in black vinyl, which also covers the door panels and the upper part of the dashboard. In front of the driver is a three-spoke steering wheel behind which is a five-digit odometer showing 7,052 miles (total odometer unknown). Additional equipment includes sound insulation kit, replacement turn signal relay, door window crank springs, felt strips, and Blaupunkt AM/FM cassette stereo and Pioneer speakers.

In 2018, the car was serviced which included replacement of brake rotors, pads, hoses, shocks, bump stops, and sway bar bushings.

The car comes with a driver’s manual, partial service records, and a clean California title in the owner’s name.

The auction ends on December 19 and the highest bid at the time of writing was USD $38,000.
