Mercedes Formula 1 starts its W13 engine for the first time

Preparations for the new Formula 1 season are well underway. So Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula 1 tested the engine for the 2022 season. It is a 1.6-L V6 turbocharged engine with 950-1,000 hp (710-750 kW) that uses 10% ethanol.

The video was posted on the instagram profile @ mercedesamgf1. The video shows employees watching intently, while one of the team members, via video call, shows Toto Wolff the first start of the W13 engine for the 2022 season. Toto Wolff is CEO, Team Principal and co-owner of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team.

It is still uncertain who will be behind the wheel of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team for next season. According to Bernie Ecclestone, after talking to Lewis Hamilton’s father, his impression is that Lewis will not be competing next season.

“I don’t think he’ll be back next season. His disappointment was too big after the last race. Now, tied for seven titles with Michael Schumacher, it’s the perfect time for him to fulfill his dream and be a fashion entrepreneur. Also with George Russell he would have an ambitious team-mate, and could lose a lot next season, ”Ecclestone said.

Lamborghini Urus upgraded by Mansory and MTM

This is not the first time that German tuning companies Mansory and MTM have joined forces on a joint project. As a basis for their latest creation, they used the Lamborghini Urus, which is responsible for the better financial situation of the famous Italian company.

The Mansory equipment kit brings a slightly smaller diffuser with a centrally placed triple exhaust system and larger air intakes. What sets Urus apart from similar creations is the 4-liter biturbo V8 engine with 1,001 hp (736 kW) and 922 lb-ft (1,250 Nm) of torque. Interestingly, the Bugatti Veyron has the same number of horsepower. Power is transmitted to all wheels via a modified 8-speed automatic transmission.

As a reminder, the standard Urus develops 650 hp (478 kW) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque, and reaches 62 mph in 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 190 mph (305 km / h).

There is no performance data for the upgraded Urus, but there is no doubt that it will be much better than the performance of the basic Lamborghini Urus.

Honda Civic Type R at Tokyo Auto Salon

The Honda Civic Type R will be officially unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon in the middle of next month. Currently, Honda is finishing testing the most powerful version of the Civic at the Suzuka racetrack, Japan. The car has previously passed tests at the Nürburgring and Nardo race tracks.

The new Civic is still covered in camouflage foil so it reveals little. What can be noticed in the photos are the large red brake calipers behind the dark rims with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires, as well as the large spoiler on the fifth door.

Although the hybrid option was mentioned, it will not happen because the current concept has proven to be outstanding. The current Type R is powered by an improved 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo petrol engine, from the 10th generation, with more than 306 hp (228 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm). Power is transmitted to the front axle, which will be assisted by a limited differential lock, via a six-speed manual transmission.

Since the Covid-19 still has a big impact on the automotive industry, we hope the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon won’t be delayed.
