Upgraded Bentley Continental GT3

The upgraded Bentley Continental GT3 is ready for mountain racing, to achieve the fastest time in the modified car category.

The most powerful Bentley ever produced is equipped with a large rear spoiler and other accessories created for this type of mountain race at over 4,000 meters above sea level.

The current record is held by David Donner in a Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport with a time of 9: 36.559. In the 99th annual Pikes Peak race, which will take place in June, the Continental GT3 will be driven by Rhys Millen.

Matthias Rabe said: “We are delighted to be returning to Pikes Peak for the third time – now powered by renewable fuel, as the launch project for another new element of our Beyond100 program.”

The Continental GT3 has a 4.0-liter turbo V8 engine and will use biofuel. “Our powertrain engineers are already researching both biofuels and e-fuels for use by our customers alongside our electrification program – with intermediate steps of adopting renewable fuels at the factory in Crewe and for our company fleet,” Bentley said.

Hybrid versions of all Bentley models will be offered from 2023, and from 2030 the company’s focus will be on electric models.

Bentley Bacalar

Bentley announced that it had made the first W12 engine for Bacalar and that the engine had passed three stages of testing. It is the most advanced 12-cylinder engine in history.

Each W12 engine goes through three stages of testing: 1. checking for faults in the fuel, water and oil system; 2. cold test, measuring 600 individual engine characteristics during a 15-minute test at 120 rpm; 3. Hot Test, check the engine after assembly.

The twin-turbo 6.0-liter W12 engine delivers 650 hp and 667 lb-ft of torque. The engine has 27 percent more power and 38 percent more torque than the first model produced in 2003.

Since 2002, more than 100,000 W12 engines have been produced, and each has passed through the hands of 45 craftsmen. Making each copy required 6.5 hours of work.

Only 12 lucky ones will have a chance to own a Bentley Bacalar with a W12 engine, and one of the units costing £ 1.5-million ($ 1.91-million) has been completed.
