Mercedes-AMG SL

The first Mercedes-Benz SL (Sport Leicht) was introduced back in 1954, and 67 years later, the seventh generation of one of the longest-lived models, the Mercedes-AMG SL, arrived on the scene.

Based on the new platform, the Mercedes-AMG SL will continue where the AMG GT Roadster model left off. Also, Mercedes returned to the traditional solution, giving up the hard folding roof. The new SL will only be offered in combination with a three-layer canvas folding roof. It takes 15 seconds to raise / lower the roof, and the procedure can be performed at speeds up to 60 km / h. This reduced the weight of the sports four-seater by an additional 21 kilograms.

The new SL is offered for the first time with an adaptive 4Matic + drivetrain and steering system that includes a rear axle. It will be offered in two versions, SL 55 4Matic + and SL 63 4Matic +, and will be powered by the same 4-liter biturbo V8 engine. The base version will have 469 hp (350 kW) and 512 lb-ft (694 Nm) of torque. The engine is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission through which power is transmitted to all wheels. It reaches 62 mph in 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 183 mph (295 km / h).

The more powerful version (SL 63 4Matic +) will have 577 hp (430 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. Power is transmitted to all wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission. It reaches 62 mph in 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 196 mph (315 km / h).
