Lanzante 930 TAG Turbo

It’s not often that we see a road legal car powered by a Formula 1 engine, but there are always exceptions. Such is the case with this Lanzante 930 TAG Turbo which is powered by a Formula 1 V6 engine.

In order to compete with Renault, McLaren joined forces with TAG and Porsche in 1982 to jointly develop a turbocharged F1 engine. The creative behind it is Hans Mezger, the legendary Porsche engineer who designed some of the best high-performance engines. When the engine was developed to be tested, it was installed in a road-going Porsche 911 Turbo. This later inspired Dean Lanzante to build this specimen. The same engine powered McLaren cars in the 1984 and 1985 Formula 1 seasons.

Lanzante bought 11 engines to be able to produce 11 unique examples of the 930. To fit the 1.5 liter V6 engine Lanzante teamed up with Cosworth but power had to be reduced from a massive 1,000 hp (735 kW) to a road legal 503 hp (370 kW) and 311 lb-ft (422 Nm) of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox with a limited slip differential. That was enough for the car to reach a top speed of 322 km/h (200 mph).

The car is equipped with a new radiator, new shock absorbers and carbon brakes, carbon and aluminum components, which reduces the weight by 200 kg, but there is no traction control system. It is mounted on 17″ Ruf wheels.

Between 2016 and 2019, the alternator, battery, engine gaskets, and mass air flow sensor relay were replaced. It is mounted on 17″ RUF Speedline alloy wheels wrapped in 235/45 front and 255/40 rear BFGoodrich f-Force Sport tires.

The FITTIPALDI steering wheel is also wrapped in black leather and behind it is a six-digit odometer showing 99,105 miles. Additional equipment includes air conditioning, power windows, and a Bluetooth-capable Pioneer CD stereo with USB and auxiliary inputs.

The car has a clean Carfax report that shows no accidents or other damage. It comes with a removed aftermarket exhaust muffler, the removed stock steering wheel, a tool kit, an emergency air compressor, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

Singer Vehicle Design opened a new workshop

In 2009, British musician Rob Dickinson founded the company Singer Vehicle Design which restores and modifies Porsche automobiles. Since then, they have done numerous restorations and modifications of Porsche 964 cars, and now they have opened the doors of their workshop to Top Gear.

Those who want a classic sports car, restored and modified with modern technology, and assembled according to the highest quality standards, unfortunately have to be patient and wait because the waiting list is sometimes four years long.

Since Singer Vehicle Design was founded, demand has grown rapidly to the point where the company has decided to stop accepting new orders for its Classic model. The company decided to do this because it wants to preserve its value in the future. However, the Turbo model is offered, but about 200 people are already waiting for it.

In its plant, Singer performs all operations, from painting and installation of spare and new parts to assembly and finishing works. Singer director Mazen Fawaz claims that the company can meet all customer requirements and increase the car’s value to seven figures except in situations of severe damage.

We’ve already seen some of their work before, and we can say with certainty that they are a piece of art. Here are some of the cars that the company: Porsche 911 Turbo Study, Porsche 930 Turbo, 1989 Porsche 911, Porsche 911 (964), 911 Cabriolet.
