Xiaomi is developing its first SUV

At the end of March, Xiaomi officially introduced its first car, the SU7, which will soon enter production. It is a fully electric sedan for which the Chinese tech giant received more than 50,000 orders in less than half an hour after its presentation. Now comes the information that Xiaomi is working on the development of its second car and its first SUV.

The Xiaomi SUV should bring a larger battery and extended range, and some information says that it will not be built on the Modena platform like the SU7, but on a completely new platform. It will be similar in size to the Porsche Cayenne, and its rival will be the Li Auto L9.

The artist known as Sugar Chow has released the first renders showing the SUV with front and rear lights similar to those on the SU7, but integrated into the body like the lights on the Ferrari Purosangue. It should be noted that Xiaomi has not yet released any information about its first SUV.

When it comes to SU7, it will come in three versions: SU7, SU7 Pro and SU7 Max. The standard version is powered by an electric motor with 299 hp (220 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque, and will have RWD. It will accelerate from 0 – 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.28 seconds with a top speed of 210 km/h (130 mph). It is equipped with a BYD Blade 73.6 kWh battery that provides a range of 700 kilometers. It will cost $29,900.

The more powerful version of the SU7 Pro will be equipped with an 800V architecture, a 94.3 kWh battery that provides a range of 830 km, and will cost $34,000. However, the most powerful version, Xiaomi SU7 Max, is really impressive. It is powered by two electric motors with a total output of 673 hp (495 kW) and 618 lb-ft (838 Nm) of torque, and has AWD. It reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.78 seconds with a top speed of 265 km/h (165 mph). It is equipped with the Xiami Pilot Max ADAS system, 800V architecture, and a CATI Qilin 101 kWh battery that enables a range of 800 km, or 510 km after a 15-minute charge. It costs $41,500.

The combination of Porsche Targa and Taycan

Porsche previously announced that it is going full electrification of all its models, and the only one that could remain with an internal combustion engine is the 911. Based on that information, an artist known as Sugar Chow created the Porsche 911E Targa.

The process of electrification is on the rise, and all major brands are working hard to introduce new electric models, increasing their offer. This did not exclude sports models either, and in this regard, a series of electric models will arrive from the Stuttgart-based company starting next year. The first in that series will be the new generation SUV model Macan. At the same time, Porsche announces that the legendary 911 will keep the internal combustion engine. However, in the imaginative realm of digital content creators, this interesting idea of an electric Porsche 911 992 has appeared.

At the end of 2018, the eighth generation of the legendary 911 series, the 992 model, was presented, joining a series of models: Carrera, Targa, Turbo and GT3. All these variants are interesting, but for many Targa is particularly interesting because of its specific roof. Currently, the 911 Targa models include the variants: Targa 4, Targa 4S, plus Targa 4 GTS. Their power is distributed in the range of 385 hp (283 kW) to 480 hp (353 kW), which in the most powerful version with the PDK transmission, reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.5 seconds with a top speed of 191 mph ( 307 km/h).

The design may look strange, but it is certainly an interesting combination. Sugar Chow blended the front end of the Taycan phenomenally with the body of the 911, while removing the rear exhaust system to create this illusion. Of course he didn’t deal with the powertrain of the car, after all he is only a visual creator.

When it comes to the powertrain, the current Porsche Taycan Turbo S is powered by two electric motors with a total power of 750 hp (560 kW) and 774 lb-ft (1,050 Nm) of torque. This would require a lot of space to install a larger battery pack, which the Targa cannot provide. Therefore, a version with 530 hp (390 kW) with 472 lb-ft (640 Nm) of torque and a 71 kWh battery remains as an option.
