Mini is giving up the manual gearbox

British car manufacturer Mini has announced that it will no longer sell cars with a manual gearbox. Obviously, the company is sticking to its plan to switch to all-electric cars.

In an interview with Top Gear, the head of the British brand Stefanie Wurst said that in the future Mini will focus even more on electric models, including the motorsport division. As for the thermal engines, Mini did not reveal more information, but it is possible that it will only be offered as a hybrid.

The John Cooper Works 1TO6 Special Edition will be the last Mini with a six-speed manual gearbox. This car, which offers the feeling of driving a go-kart, is based on the old generation Cooper and was produced in only 999 examples.

A few days ago, Mini presented new generations of fully electric Mini Countryman and Mini Cooper Electric. Mini Countryman is powered by a single electric motor with 201 hp (148 kW) and is equipped with a 64.7 kWh battery. It reaches 62 mph (100 km/h) in 8.6 seconds and has a range of 462 km. For those who want more power, the Countryman SE ALL4 is powered by two electric motors with a power of 309 hp (227 kW), which is enough to push the car to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds. Petrol engines with 168, 215 and 296 hp are also available as an option.

Mini Cooper Electric comes in two versions, E and SE. The Cooper Electric E is powered by a single electric motor with 181 hp (133 kW) and is equipped with a 40.7 kWh battery. It reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.3 seconds and has a range of 306 kilometers. The Cooper Electric SE is powered by a single electric motor with 215 hp (158 kW) and is equipped with a 54.2 kWh battery. It reaches 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.7 seconds and has a range of 403 kilometers.

2024 Mercedes AMG GT Concept E Performance

After the presentation of the CLA concept and the announcement of a smaller version of the G-Class, Mercedes presented another car, but this time it is a powerful sports plug-in hybrid, the Mercedes AMG GT Concept E Performance.

The AMG GT Concept E Performance is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 twin-tube engine combined with an electric motor, with a total power of more than 800 hp (588 kW), which is more than the AMG GT Black Series (720 hp). Specifications have not been released, but it should be noted that the GT63 S four-door coupe E Performance with 831 hp (611 kW) and the S63 E Performance with 791 hp (582 kW) have a similar powertrain. It sits on 21″ wheels wrapped in 295/30 ZR 21 Michelin Pilot Sport S tires.

The car attracted the attention of all visitors, and at first glance one cannot notice a big difference compared to the Mercedes-AMG GT. A combination of black and red adorns the exterior of this racer that comes with an optional rear wing and carbon-ceramic brakes with gold brake calipers. The charging port is located on the rear bumper.

2023 ZEEKR 001 FR

After announcing the arrival of its flagship sedan ZEEKR 001 on the European market, the Chinese company recently presented a more powerful version of this car, the ZEEKR 001 FR.

The car is equipped with a lightweight body kit that includes a front splitter, sills, rear diffuser, a large rear wing and side mirror housings, a 100 kWh battery that charges from 10 to 80 percent capacity in just 15 minutes, 800V technology, front 420 mm Brembo carbon- ceramic discs with AP Racing ten-pistons, rear 410 mm discs with four-piston calipers.

The ZEEKR 001 FR is powered by four electric motors with a total power of 1,248 hp (918 kW) and 944 lb-ft (1,280 Nm) of torque. That’s enough power for this supercar to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.07 seconds with a top speed of 280 km/h (174 mph). It is mounted on 22-inch alloy wheels with high-performance tires.

The company believes that this car could be a serious competitor to the Tesla Model S Plaid. How realistic it is, it’s hard to say. As a reminder, Model S Plaid is powered by three electric motors with a total power of 1,020 hp (750 kW) and 1,047 lb-ft (1,420 Nm) of torque, with a range of 396 miles. This 2,190 kg heavy car reaches 60 mph in 1.99 seconds with a top speed of 200 mph (322 km / h).
