2024 Lamborghini SC63 LMDh

In September 2022, Lamborghini announced that it was developing its LMDh endurance racing car. The car will compete in the IMSA Endurance Cup and the FIA World Endurance Championship, as well as the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the 2024 season. Now, the Lamborghini SC63 LMDh has premiered at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Several companies participated in the development of the car: electric motor (Bosch Motorsport), power management and energy storage (Williams Advanced Engineering), seven-speed P1359 hybrid gearbox (Xtrac), carbon fiber elements (HP Composites).

“We will be measuring ourselves against the very best, on the most demanding proving grounds. On one hand, this will give our successful motorsports program even more visibility, but it will also allow us to test future technologies. Our LMDh prototypes will become our most sophisticated open laboratory on four wheels,” Lamborghini boss Stephan Winkelmann said last year.

The car will be powered by a 3.8L twin-turbo V8 engine combined with an electric motor with a total power of 680 hp/500 kW (FIA regulations). It will reach a top speed of 211 mph (340 kph).

Lamborghini will have two LMDh prototypes on tracks around the world next season. One will compete in the World Endurance Championship, the other in the similarly conceived IMSA Championship, and both will be in the colors of the Iron Lynk team.

Porsche 930 TAG Turbo with F1 engine

It looks like this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed will be very exciting as several companies will present their projects, such as Lanzante Limited who presented two Porsche cars with F1 engines. One of them is the Porsche 930 TAG Turbo.

The car was announced back in 2018, and this one was named SJ87 after the Swedish F1 driver Stefan Johansson. It is powered by a 1.5-liter twin-turbo Porsche-TAG V6 engine. The same engine was used in the McLaren MP4/3 car at the race in Austria in 1987.

Johansson painted the car himself. It’s decorated with a few reminders from the past such as the green detailing that refers to Johansson’s helmet, while the blue and yellow represent the colors of the Swedish flag. The red and white colors pay homage to McLaren’s livery from the period when the team was sponsored by Marlboro.

Lanzante also revealed its new P1, the fourth completed HDK (High Downforce Kit) model. Paying homage to McLaren’s F1 livery of the 1980s and 1990s, the car is powered by a Lanzante version of the 4.0L Cosworth engine with 1,000 hp (735 kW) and 774 lb-ft (1,050 Nm) of torque.

Porsche 911 (993) Bubblegum

The Goodwood Festival of Speed has started and on the first day we saw the restomod Porsche 911 (993) Bubblegum, made by Gunther Werks. This is the latest work of a company that specializes in Porsche cars, especially the legendary 911.

The car is finished in a special pink pearl shade with ultra fine metallic shades, and it was done for a special client from Great Britain. A stripped carbon line runs down the middle of the car, and Gunther Werks say this unique creation marks the company’s official debut in various European markets and the UK.

There is little information about this unique car. However, there is a lot of speculation. Some believe, when it comes to the powertrain, that under the hood is a 4.0L flat-six twin-turbo engine with 700 hp (515 kW) paired with a manual gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels. This would mean that the engineers used the same engine as on last year’s Project Tornado.

Project Tornado is powered by an air-cooled 4.0-liter flat-six twin-turbo engine that in race mode delivers 700 hp (522 kW) and 560 lb-ft (759 Nm) of torque. In standard form, the engine delivers 600 hp (447 kW). Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.

It is equipped with a carbon body, a large rear wing with functional vents for cooling, wide rear wheel arches, and a new splitter. Inside are carbon fiber seat buckets covered in black Alcantara with pink stitching. The steering wheel is also wrapped in black Alcantara with pink stitching, while the door panels are made of carbon fiber. The dashboard is covered in black leather.
