All 3,965 cars on the Felicity Ace cargo ship were destroyed

As we announced a few days ago, all 3,965 cars on the Felicity Ace cargo ship were destroyed. The ship carried 1,100 Porsches, 189 Bentleys, while the rest consisted of Volkswagen, Audi and Lamborghini, including electric models. The Portuguese Coast Guard managed to save the crew, while the ship was left on fire.

It is not known what caused the fire, but Lithium-ion batteries in electric cars have contributed to its rapid spread to fuel tanks. According to Captain João Mendes Cabeças: “The fire has decreased because there is little fuel left on the ship.” This made it clear that all the cars had burned down. He also said that special equipment was needed to put out such a fire, and even then, putting out the fire would be more difficult.

When it comes to the value of the damage, economist Patrick Anderson assumes that 75% of cars were destroyed. In his calculations, he calculates an individual value of $ 95,000 per car. This brings the total value of the destroyed cars to $ 376,675,000. Initially, he estimated that the damage could be around $ 255 million, not knowing that all the cars were destroyed.

The estimated damage applies only to cars and not to damage caused to the ship or the environment.

Audi will stop offering Q2 and A1 models

In 2016, Audi introduced the Q2 crossover. Six years later, Audi announced in its plans that this model would no longer be on offer. The reason is the decision to focus on the production of larger and more expensive models in the future.

Two years ago, Audi introduced a redesigned version of this model. The new decision to stop offering the Q2 crossover also includes the A1 model, so that only the A3 model will remain in Audi’s C segment.

Like other major car manufacturers, Audi is focused on electrification. It was previously announced that Audi will present the last models to be powered by internal combustion engines in 2026, and the cessation of production of these engines is planned for 2033.

Audi is currently testing an A4 B10 model that is considered to be the last in this Series with an internal combustion engine. The Audi A4 B10 is built on the current MLB platform and will be powered by several engine types. Mild-hybrid 2.0 TFSI four-cylinder engine with 48-volt battery pack. Power will be transmitted to all wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Plug-in hybrid 2.0 in-line four engine combined with an electric motor that delivers a total of 362 hp (266 kW). It will be equipped with an 11.3 kWh lithium-ion battery.

By the end of 2022, Audi will expand its range of electric cars with the Q6 E-Tron model. The car will be built on the PPE platform that Audi developed with Porsche.

2023 Audi A4 B10 – the last model with an internal combustion engine

Electric cars are increasingly conquering the market. According to recently published sales data for last year, all car companies recorded an increase in sales of electric cars. Obviously, the new era brings new trends, so the Audi A4 B10 could be the company’s latest model with an internal combustion engine.

The Audi A4 B10 is currently in the testing phase, and spy photos that are published occasionally do not reveal much. The car is covered in camouflage but you can still notice the evolutionary design, larger front grille, vertical intakes, digital matrix LED headlights, full-width LED rear taillight cluster.
