2018 Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 Roadster is up for auction

At the 2016 Geneva Motor Show to commemorate the 100th birthday of the company’s founder, Lamborghini presented a limited edition Centenario model. It was produced in two body styles, 20 coupés and 20 roadsters, and one of them, the 2018 Lamborghini Centenario LP770-4 Roadster is for sale.

This car is powered by a thundering 6.5-liter V-12 with 759 hp (566 kW) and 509 lb-ft (690 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to all wheels via a 7-speed ISR automated manual gearbox. It reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.8 seconds with a top speed of 350 km/h (217 mph), and drivers can choose between Strada, Sport or Corsa driving modes. The Lamborghini Centenario has a power to weight ratio of 2.18 kg (4.81 lb) per horsepower and a braking distance of 30 m (98 ft) from 100–0 km/h (62–0 mph).

The design is borrowed from the Aventador, but this car has better aerodynamics and steering. The Lamborghini Centenario is finished in Rosso Efesto with a black stripe running the entire length of the vehicle across the hood, rear lid and spoiler. There is also a carbon twin-plane front splitter for better air flow, which in combination with a diffuser and an active rear wing provide downforce and stability.

Inside, a 25-centimeter portrait screen on the central console allows navigation control, but also offers telemetry, data-logging and lap timing facilities. The seats are upholstered in Nero Ade Alcantara with Rosso Alala details.

This perhaps the most extreme and advanced Lamborghini ever produced is in immaculate condition with only 71 kilometers on the odometer.

The auction will take place on January 31 in Paris and the estimated value of the car is €3,000,000 – €4,000,000 EUR.

A transporter with expensive cars overturned on the highway

At a time when the price of cars is rising, the least that new car buyers expect is news of damage to their cars. This is exactly what happened in the UK these days when a transporter with expensive cars overturned on the road.

Last week, British police received a call that a transporter with several supercars had overturned on the A20 near Farningham (Kent), not far from the famous Brands Hatch circuit. The vehicles are thought to be used to provide driving experiences at the racing circuit. The transporter driver escaped with only a minor injury. The cause of this accident is still unknown.

The video of this accident was published on the Twitter profile “Kent999s”, and can be seen damaged cars such as a Lamborghini Aventador, a Jaguar F-Type, two Ferraris, a Mercedes-AMG GT, a Nissan GT-R, an Aston Martin and a BMW, while a Bentley Continental ended on the roof.

It is not known how much the cars were damaged and whether some of them escaped unscathed. However, it is not easy for car enthusiasts to see such examples of expensive cars damaged.

Lamborghini Invencible and Lamborghini Autentica

Last year, Lamborghini announced that it would stop offering cars with a V12 engine and that the honor of being the last model powered by this type of engine would go to the Lamborghini Ultimae. However, the Italian manufacturer has decided to introduce two new cars that will be powered by a V12 engine, the Lamborghini Invencible and the Lamborghini Autentica.

Invencible is actually a coupe, while Autentica is a roadster. Both models should mark the end of an era of the internal combustion engine, before the coming hybrid era. They are built on the same platform as the Aventador, which premiered 12 years ago with the LP 700-4 model. In appearance, they resemble several models with a V12 engine, including the limited edition Reventon, whose interior design referred to the Aventador.

The unique coupe and roadster have full carbon bodies with a traditional hexagonal theme. Invencible is finished in Rosso Efesto, and Autentica in Grigio Titans color. The interior is done in a red and black combination of Rosso Alala leather and the Nero Cosmos Alcantara. There is also a minimalist dashboard without an infotainment system, but with 3D printed air vents.

Under the hood, which is taken from the Essenza SCV12, is the most powerful version of the V12 engine ever installed in a Lamborghini. It is a 6.5-liter V12 engine with 769 hp at 8,500 rpm and 531 lb-ft (720 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed ISR gearbox. Performance details have not been released, but it should be recalled that the Ultimae reaches 62 mph in 2.8 seconds with a top speed of 220 mph (355 km/h).

The price is currently unknown.
