The German magazine Sport Auto tested another supercar on the most famous Nürburgring Nordschleife race track, and this time it’s the Maserati MC20. Journalist, racer and test driver Christian Gebhardt tried his best to set the fastest lap time, but failed.
Maserati MC20 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 Nettuno engine with 621 hp (463 kW) and 538 lb-ft (729 Nm) of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission that sends power to the rear axle. It reaches 62 mph in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 201 mph (323 km / h). It is mounted on Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires.
The Maserati MC20 completed the 20,830 km (12,943 mi) long course in 7 minutes and 25.26 seconds, two seconds faster than the time achieved by the Ferrari 812 Superfast. It was also a second slower than the two-seater Maserati MC12 supercar that clocked a lap time of 7:24.29 nearly two decades ago. But considering the fact that the car wasn’t developed on the Nordschleife, it was a respectable lap time!
